Importing and analyzing external data using a virtual reality welding system

A real-time virtual reality welding system including a programmable processor-based subsystem, a spatial tracker operatively connected to the programmable processor-based subsystem, at least one mock welding tool capable of being spatially tracked by the spatial tracker, and at least one display device operatively connected to the programmable processor-based subsystem. The system is capable of simulating, in virtual reality space, a weld puddle having real-time molten metal fluidity and heat dissipation characteristics. The system is further capable of importing data into the virtual reality welding system and analyzing the data to characterize a student welder's progress and to provide training.

Helmet with digital visor

A helmet and a method and system for controlling a digital visor of a helmet are disclosed herein. The helmet includes a visor screen having a plurality of liquid crystal display (LCD) pixels, with each LCD pixel configured to alter in transparency. The helmet also includes a light sensor configured to detect incident light. The helmet also includes a controller coupled to the visor screen and the light sensor. The controller is configured to alter the transparency of the plurality of LCD pixels based on the incident light. In embodiments, the controller can alter the transparency of the LCD pixels based on the direction and/or intensity of the incident light.

Importing and analyzing external data using a virtual reality welding system

A real-time virtual reality welding system including a programmable processor-based subsystem, a spatial tracker operatively connected to the programmable processor-based subsystem, at least one mock welding tool capable of being spatially tracked by the spatial tracker, and at least one display device operatively connected to the programmable processor-based subsystem. Adjustable head-mounted display

A head-mounted display including a front, a back, a first actuator, a second actuator, a first adjustable member extending between the front and the back and operably engaging the first actuator, and a second adjustable member extending between the front and the back and operably engaging the second actuator. The first adjustable member and the second adjustable member may be adjustable in length via the second actuator to vary a gap distance between the front and the back. In some embodiments, the head-mounted display may include a wire routing assembly for routing wire(s) between the front and the back of the head-mounted display. Additionally, in some embodiments, the head-mounted display may include a harness for engaging a user.

The connection interfaces (15,25) are configured for mutually changing, locally or through a remote server (99) available through a data network (3), data streams (12,22,32) coming from the video camera (11), from the visual sensor (21) or from the peripheral device (30), respectively, intended to be displayed by the local viewer (13). Moreover, the connection interfaces are configured for exchanging the data streams with the assistants (51) remote viewer (50) through the remote server (99). The system (1) also comprises a scenario-switching device (80) for displaying a same data stream of interest (42) at the same time to the local viewer (13) and to the remote viewer (50), said data stream of interest selected among data streams (12,22,32) related to the scenarios (11′,21′) framed by the video camera (11) and by the visual sensor (21), respectively, and to the data obtained from the peripheral device (30).

The gaze corrector has mutually different colors on a facing surface facing the wearer, a right side surface located to the right of the facing surface and a left side surface located to the left of the facing surface, and the gaze corrector divides a field of view of the wearer into a right field of view and a left field of view.

Helmet-based system for improved practice efficiency and athlete safety

A system is provided for use by athletes and their coaches during practice. The system includes an electronic system configured for inclusion in a helmet. The electronic system includes a transparent display screen coupled to the helmet, a processor coupled to the transparent display screen, a camera coupled to the processor and a first wireless transceiver coupled to the processor. The system also includes a handheld processing device. The handheld processing device includes a second wireless transceiver configured to communicate video content with the first wireless transceiver, an interactive display screen configured to display the first video and a video editing application configured to edit the first video to generate a second video including a simulated player technique superimposed in the first video. The second video is communicated from the handheld processing device to the electronic system for display to the athlete via the transparent display screen.

A system for visibility in an atmospheric suit includes a camera arranged to view an environment outside the atmospheric suit and a display device to display an image obtained by the camera. An input device obtains input from a wearer of the atmospheric suit. A controller changes a feature of the camera based on the input. The image obtained by the camera and displayed by the display device is modified based on the feature.
