Systems and methods to improve brushing behavior
This disclosure presents systems and methods to improve user brushing behavior. Exemplary implementations may: effectuate presentation of audio content via an audio output device, the audio content being characterized by an audio profile; obtain output signals from one or more sensors coupled to a user device, the output signals conveying user input information, the user input information defining user input by a user via the user device; determine, based on the user input information, a user profile, the user profile including one or more user values of the one or more audio attribute; compare the user profile with the audio profile to determine, for individual audio attributes, one or more differences; determine one or more scores reflecting the one or more differences; and/or perform other operations.
Oral care system
An oral care implement including a handle and an oral care refill head. The handle has a gripping portion, an engagement component coupled to a distal end of the gripping portion, and a stem. The engagement component includes a plate portion and a first engagement feature. The stem extends through an opening in the engagement component and protrudes from the plate portion. The oral care refill head includes an oral care treatment portion and a sleeve portion. The sleeve portion has an inner surface that defines a sleeve cavity having a cavity axis and a second engagement feature. When the oral care refill head is detachably coupled to the handle, the first and second engagement features mate with one another to at least one of: (1) position the oral care refill head and the handle in an operational alignment; and (2) lock the oral care refill head to the handle.

Child Handwashing Device
A handwashing device that provides an incentive for proper handwashing is presented. The handwashing device contains a housing, a brush layer, a processing unit, an activation element, an indicator element, and a timer switch. The housing is positioned within the brush layer. The processing unit is positioned within the housing. The processing unit, the activation element, the indicator element, and the timer switch are electronically connected to the processing unit. In the preferred embodiment, the housing may take the form of a rigid and waterproof electronics enclosure that houses the electronic components that constitutes the handwashing device. Additionally, the housing serves as a mounting implement for the brush layer to attach along where the brush layer conforms to the shape of the housing. In the preferred embodiment, the housing is constructed out of a light permeable material, such as, but not limited to translucent polycarbonate, or any other suitable material.
USER INTERFACE FOR SYSTEM TO PROMOTE OPTIMUM PERFORMANCE OF HANDHELD COSMETIC DEVICE
A method for controlling display of a user interface for optimizing performance in using a personal care appliance is provided including: receiving a user info or regimen; receiving a protocol or routine to use the appliance; receiving an appliance status related to a user's usage of the appliance; comparing the appliance status to a target usage of the appliance in the protocol or routine; and controlling display of an indicator of the user's performance based on the comparison.
BRUSH ENCODING DEVICE FOR SYSTEM TO PROMOTE OPTIMUM PERFORMANCE OF HANDHELD COSMETIC DEVICE
A personal care appliance is provided that includes a brushhead for use in skincare; an appliance body having a motor assembly for oscillating the brushhead, wherein the brushhead or a portion of the motor assembly that is configured to oscillate includes a marking; and a brush encoder configured to detect the marking, and determine the oscillation of the brushhead.
SYSTEM TO PROMOTE OPTIMUM PERFORMANCE OF HANDHELD COSMETIC DEVICE
A system to promote optimum performance of a personal care appliance is provided including: a personal care appliance having an appliance status; and a client device, in communication with the appliance, including circuitry configured to compare the appliance status with the protocol for using the appliance, control display of an indicator based on the comparison.
Personal care device with high pressure indicator
A personal care device (10) configured to generate a feedback signal in response to excessive pressure applied by a user includes: a body portion (12) comprising a first interacting portion (40); a shaft (24) comprising a second interacting portion (42), wherein the shaft and the second interacting portion are moveable, in response to a force applied by the user, from a first position in which the first interacting portion does not physically interact with the second interacting portion, to a second position in which the first interacting portion physically interacts with the second interacting portion; and a sensor (70) configured to detect the physical interaction between the first interacting portion and the second interacting portion, and further configured to activate a feedback signal, in response to the detection of the physical interaction, to the user that excessive pressure is being applied.
TOOTHBRUSH WITH AUTOMATIC DETECTION OF BRUSHING ANGLE
A toothbrush (10) includes a brushhead (18), a first force sensor (30A) for measuring a first force exerted by the brushhead at a first angle relative to a tooth and a second force sensor (30B) for measuring a second force exerted by the brushhead at a second angle relative to the tooth, the second angle being different than the first angle, and a processing unit (26). The processing unit is structured to: (i) receive first information indicative of the first force as measured by the first force sensor, (ii) receive second information indicative of the second force as measured by the second force sensor, and (iii) determine information regarding a current brushing angle of the brushhead based on the first information and the second information.
APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR PLAQUE DETECTION
A plaque detection apparatus (70) and method make use of an excitation source (72), a light detector (74) and a controller (76). The excitation source (72) outputs wavelength modulated light (λ.sub.ex) to an evaluation site (80) that has a periodically changing wavelength centered around a wavelength corresponding to a non-linearity in an absorption and/or a fluorescence excitation spectrum for a chosen plaque. The chosen plaque exhibits spectral characteristics different from non-chosen plaque and/or interfering species. The light detector (74) detects light (λ.sub.site) (84) received from the evaluation site (80), including site reflected light (λ.sub.refl) and/or site emitted light (λ.sub.em). The controller (76) operatively couples to the excitation source (72) and the light detector (74) for controlling the excitation source to output the wavelength modulated light and detecting plaque as a function of the detected light (λ.sub.site) and at least one higher harmonic of the wavelength modulation frequency.
