The applicator devices provide for application of a wide variety of liquid and solid materials from a hand-held device in combination with a buffing element. The devices generally include a top portion that forms a housing and a bottom portion that defines a buffing element. The top portion incudes an interior side that defines an inner cavity configured to contain the liquid or solid material and an exterior side having at least a portion configured to be grasped by a user's hand. Attachment between the housing and the buffing element may be releasable so that various interchangeable buffing elements may be used in combination with the liquid or solid material contained in the housing of the device.

A paint brush cleaning system includes a housing and a paint brush cleaner attached to the housing. The housing contains solvent that helps clean a paint brush. The paint brush cleaner rotates a wire brush against the bristles of the paint brush and actuates a pump to eject solvent drawn from the housing as the paint brush is moved in translation. The wire brush is coupled to a retractable cord, which rotates the wire brush. A holder is simultaneously coupled to the retractable cord and the pump. When force is exerted on the holder, the retractable cord rotates the wire brush and the pump ejects solvent. A user can insert a paint brush handle through the holder, thus actuating the pump and rotating the wire brush by applying force to the handle. The housing attaches to a user's belt, providing easy access to the paint brush cleaning system.

The method includes placing an abrasive brush, comprising an abrasive tape wound around an outer surface of a brush member of the abrasive brush, on the backside surface of the semiconductor wafer. The method also includes rotating the brush member to polish the backside surface of the semiconductor wafer by abrasive grains formed on the abrasive tape and to clean the backside surface of the semiconductor wafer by the brush member which is not covered by the abrasive tape.

A double-stringer rotary brush assembly formed of a pair of brush wire mounting hubs having sets of alternating radially staggered radially innermost and outermost brush wire tuft mounting holes having different hole sizes with brush wire tufts extending radially outwardly therefrom having at least one of (a) different lengths, (b) an offset trim, and/or (c) differently sized knots anchoring the tufts thereto. One hub can be angularly offset relative to the other hub angularly offsetting the holes of one hub relative to the other hub from being concentric.
