A recliner, comprising: (a) a stationary base frame; (b) a cushion frame slidably engaged to the base frame; and (c) a backrest frame pivotally engaged to the cushion frame via a pair of opposing recliner mechanisms mounted to the base frame, wherein, as the cushion frame extends in an extension direction, the cushion frame engages the pair of opposing recliner mechanisms so that the backrest frame pivots in a reclining direction simultaneously with the extension of the cushion frame.

A furniture item includes a body including first side plates in a first direction, a second side plate on a first side in a second direction, and a horizontal stand that forms a horizontal surface extending from the second side plate; a floor plate part that is enabled to slide between a first position and a second position that is on the second side relative to the first position; a mattress part that is enabled to be placed on the floor plate part; and a cushion element that is enabled to be placed on the mattress part. An upper side surface of the mattress part extends at a height lower than a lower end of the horizontal stand, and a space is formed under a horizontal surface of the horizontal stand in a state in which the floor plate part is at the second position.

A recliner, comprising: (a) a stationary base frame; (b) a cushion frame slidably engaged to the base frame; and (c) a backrest frame pivotally engaged to the cushion frame via a pair of opposing recliner mechanisms mounted to the base frame, wherein, as the cushion frame extends in an extension direction, the cushion frame engages the pair of opposing recliner mechanisms so that the backrest frame pivots in a reclining direction simultaneously with the extension of the cushion frame.

A furniture item includes a body including first side plates in a first direction, a second side plate on a first side in a second direction, and a horizontal stand that forms a horizontal surface extending from the second side plate; a floor plate part that is enabled to slide between a first position and a second position that is on the second side relative to the first position; a mattress part that is enabled to be placed on the floor plate part; and a cushion element that is enabled to be placed on the mattress part. An upper side surface of the mattress part extends at a height lower than a lower end of the horizontal stand, and a space is formed under a horizontal surface of the horizontal stand in a state in which the floor plate part is at the second position.

A cushion, mattress or mattress section for a convertible furniture article defines a plurality of apertures, such as slits or slots or recesses, extending into or through the cushion or mattress section that are cut in a direction at an angle to the first length of the mattress section. The cushion or mattress section expands from its first length to a second length that is longer than the first length upon applying a stretching force to the cushion or mattress section and thereby positioning the mattress section into the open or sleeping configuration. Expansion is due to resilience of the material forming the mattress or mattress section in combination with opening of the apertures. The sleeping surface of the mattress or mattress section may remain substantially planar in both the open (sleeping) position and closed (seating) position.

A furniture may include a frame structure and a seat cushion arrangement. The frame structure may include an elongated platform. The seat cushion arrangement may be supported by the platform in a first operative state in which at least a substantial portion of an elongated upper surface of the seat cushion arrangement is inclined in relation to a horizontal plane (HP) for establishing an elongated sitting area for a plurality of users. The seat cushion arrangement may be supported by the platform in a second operative state in which a substantial portion of an upper surface of the seat cushion arrangement is in parallel with the horizontal plane for establishing an elongated lying area for at least one user, wherein the lying area has a direction between a head end and a foot end in parallel with a longitudinal direction of the platform.
