SEAT CONFIGURATION
A seating configuration is described. The seating configuration includes a seat. The seat includes a feature to retain a user in a specific position on the seat. The seating configuration includes a first back support. The first back support is positioned adjacent a posterior pelvic area of the user. The seating configuration includes a second back support. The second back support is positioned adjacent to the thoracic area of the user. The seat, the first back support, and the second back support together can be configured to create a natural alignment of a spinal column of the user.
Seating furniture
The invention relates to an item of seating furniture, which comprises at least one seat (1,21) in the manner of a seat pedestal (1) or in the manner of a stool and also at least one seat cushion (5). The seat has a hard core (22) and a soft outer layer (23-26), wherein the hard core is preferably composed of at least one hard foam plastic and the outer layer is preferably composed of at least one soft foam plastic. The seat cushion has a filling of microspheres composed of hard foam plastic and having a diameter of less than 2 mm.

SEAT PAD
A seat pad (10) is formed from a foamed molded body. A passenger contact surface (11) which, in a plan view of the seat pad (10), is formed in the shape of a rectangle that is long in the lengthwise direction (X) and short in the widthwise direction (Y), is provided. The passenger contact surface (10) comprises a main pressure-receiving area (11a) with which the buttocks or the waist of a passenger come into contact, and a subsidiary pressure-receiving area (11b) that is adjacent to the main pressure-receiving area (11a) in the lengthwise direction (X). The passenger contact surface (11) is provided with partitioning grooves (15) that extend in the lengthwise direction (X) and that are arranged across the main pressure-receiving area (11a) and the subsidiary pressure-receiving area (11b). The partitioning grooves (15) are arranged so as to lie parallel to each other in the widthwise direction (Y). Additional grooves (16) are formed on the bottom surfaces of the partitioning grooves (15). In the partitioning grooves (15), the average volume, which is the ratio of the volume of the additional grooves (16) per unit area of the bottom surfaces of the partitioning grooves (15), is smaller in a first section (15a) located in the main pressure-receiving area (11a) than in a second section (15b) located in the subsidiary pressure-receiving area (11b).

Modular furniture system with storage base
A modular furniture assembly includes: a base member having a frame assembly, a transverse member having a frame assembly, a foot configured to contact a support surface, and a mounting platform having a plurality of apertures therethrough. The mounting platform is configured to be mounted on the base member frame assembly and the transverse member frame assembly, thereby connecting the frame assemblies. The foot is selectively mounted on the mounting platform, such that the foot is configured to contact the support surface when the modular furniture assembly is in an upright configuration. The mounting platform connects the base and transverse member frame assemblies together and also acts as a platform for receiving a variety of different types of feet.
