A device comprising a seat and a tabletop, connected by a support, is provided. The tabletop is kept on a horizontal plane by means of a counterweight, that is the user seated on the seat, previously placed on a horizontal surface and parallel to it. The device is portable and it can be used in a wide variety of locations.

A remotely controlled powered chair may include a support frame, a seat pivotally mounted on the support frame, an rotary actuator mounted between the support frame and the seat to drive the seat to move relative to the support frame, a backrest pivotally mounted on the seat, and a linear actuator mounted between the seat and the backrest to drive the backrest to move relative to the seat. Thus, the rotary actuator may be controlled by an electrically control device to drive the seat to pivot relative to the support frame reciprocally in a pendulum manner so that the seat is pivoted relative to the support frame automatically. An article of furniture includes a seat assembly that includes a rectangular seat support frame and a rest mount arranged on each of at least two adjacent sides of the seat support frame. A rest assembly includes a rectangular rest support frame and a seat mount arranged on at least one side of the rest support frame. The article of furniture includes at least one elongate connector, the, or each, elongate connector having a first portion that is engageable, in a detachable manner, with either of the rest mounts, and a second portion that is engageable, in a detachable manner, with the seat mount.

A method and apparatus for holding a book or other hand-held object is disclosed. The book holder comprises an encasement portion and a book holder support platform attached thereto. The book holder support platform may be vertically lowered or raised to fit the needs of the user. The encasement portion comprises material that easily stretches over or around a seatback or other substantially vertically upright support structure.

A shelf attachment for use with a beach or lounge chair is formed of one-piece or has a first shelf half and a second shelf half hingedly and foldably connected to the first shelf half. This subjecting mechanism is a versatile mechanism which allows to locate different postural supports or accessories such as lap-tray desks, umbrellas, fishing rods and virtually any other desired accessory, in various points of a mobility system on wheels or on rest, with easy fastening and release.
