An item drop box sensor system for detecting items deposited within a drop box may be configured to detect movement of an item deposit tray and to detect items deposited within the drop box. The drop box sensor system may comprise one or more tray movement sensors for detecting movement of the deposit tray, one or more item detection sensors configured to detect items passing into the drop box via the deposit tray, and an onboard controller for selectively activating the various sensors to conserve power and for transmitting data indicative of the status of the drop box to a central server configured for scheduling item pickups for various geographically spaced drop boxes.

A package delivery box 100 is disclosed. It comprises a container 101 for accommodating at least one package, an openable lid 102 attached to the container 101, a closing mechanism for closing the container 101, and a locking mechanism for locking the closed container 101. The closing mechanism comprises a pressure plate 103 at a base of the container 101, a string 105 connecting the pressure plate 103 with the lid, and at least one pull spring 106 between the lid 102 and the container 101, and the locking mechanism comprises a flexible rod 104 beneath the pressure plate 103 and directly connected to the pressure plate 103, a slider 109 connected to the flexible rod, and a hole 110 in the lid, wherein the hole 110 is adapted to accommodate insertion of the flexible rod 104 therein.

An intelligent item receptacle, system, and method for providing supplemental media content in response to depositing an item having media indicia disposed thereon. An intelligent item receptacle includes an item receptacle securely enclosing an interior volume, an item sensor configured to detect an inserted item, a camera within the interior volume configured to capture an image of the item, and an output configured to play audio or visual content to bystanders outside the item receptacle. Processing circuitry within the item receptacle analyzes the image to determine if the media indicia are present on the item and, if present, causes the output to play the audio or visual content associated with the media indicia.

The present invention relates to a mailbox for receiving and holding articles. A package delivery system includes a door access panel that is moveable between an open position and a closed position, and a frame configured to be carried by a door adjacent a passageway and configured to movably mount the door access panel. The system includes an actuator, a motor, and a controller to control selective actuation of the door access panel. The system also includes a wireless communication interface to communicatively couple the controller and a smart device for receiving a remote input to actuate the door access panel between the closed and opened positions. The system further includes a user interface configured to receive local input for actuation of the door access panel. A sensing unit is also included and has a position sensor to generate position signals to the controller. A scanning unit is coupled to the controller to scan packages delivered through the passageway.

A system and method of delivering a package to a residence having an address and a locker with a lock is disclosed. The method comprises the steps of, remotely selecting an item from a menu of items provided by a vendor and requesting the item be delivered to the residence, providing the vendor delivery information including the address and the combination code to the lock, shipping the package to the residence, reviewing the combination code associated with the package, opening the locker by manipulating the proper combination on the lock, placing the package in the locker; and closing door of the locker. The locker has an outer frame and door that cooperate to allow any liquid to drain out from the front of the locker and outside the residence and a combination lock that allows for the combination to be easily changed by the resident.

A system and method of delivering a package to a residence having an address and a locker with a lock is disclosed. A receptacle for safely receiving and holding delivery packages. The receptacle includes an inlet that is in communication with an interior space. The inlet provides for insertion of the package in a first direction into the interior space. The inlet is further configured to prevent the package from being moved in an opposing second direction and removed from the interior space.
