BEVERAGE MAKING APPARATUS
20230052261 · 2023-02-16 ·

An apparatus is provided for making beverages by immersing an infusible material, such as loose tea-leaves, in a liquid, such as hot water. The apparatus comprises a liquid-impermeable beverage container, and an infuser container, which can be inserted to, or extracted from the beverage container. The infuser container is liquid-permeable, while being impermeable to the infusible material. According to the invention, the infuser container, containing infusible material and being immersed in the liquid contained in the beverage container, may be extracted from the beverage container after a desirable length of time and securely placed above the liquid in an elevated tilted position, in which position the liquid remaining in the infuser container drips back to the beverage container. According to some embodiments of the invention, the placement and orientation of the infuser container, as well as a secure attachment of the infuser container to the beverage container, make it possible for the user to pour liquid from the beverage container without removing the infuser container from the beverage container.

A cartridge (1) for controlled brewing of loose-leaf tea in a cup, comprising an infusion chamber (2) for containing loose tea leaves (3) and infusing a liquid with substances from the tea leaves to brew tea. A chamber wall (20) impervious to the liquid defines the infusion chamber. In the chamber wall is a passage (21) between the infusion chamber and an exterior (5) thereof. The passage has an open state in which the infusion chamber is in liquid communication with the exterior, to transport the substances from the infusion chamber into liquid in the exterior during brewing tea. In a close state the infusion chamber inside is closed off from liquid in the exterior to stop a concentration of the substances in the liquid in the exterior from increasing. A manual control manually controllable by a human-being allows to bring the passage from the open state into the closed state.

The present inventive concept consists of a logic controlled submersion brewing device that operates reliably with minimal user interaction. The brewer employs a submersion brewing technique to ensure a uniform extraction of beverage from solid extraction media. The device may be programmable to start on a timer. Parameters of the brew program may be customizable including serving size and extraction settings. The device will use vapor pressure to forcibly move beverage liquid across a sieve thereby separating the liquid from spent extraction media. Reliability and repeatability of the separation procedure is enhanced using a novel method of pressure control.
