A portion capsule for the preparation of a beverage with the aid of a beverage production machine, the portion capsule having a base element with a cavity for receiving a beverage raw material and having a capsule lid which closes the cavity, the base element includes a capsule bottom, a circumferential flange, and a capsule wall which extends from the capsule bottom to the circumferential flange, the capsule lid being fastened to the flange, the portion capsule having a feature which can be visually detected, in particular, by a detector of the beverage production machine.

The invention relates to a system for preparing beverage, including a second and first exchangeable capsule and an apparatus including a first brew chamber part having a cavity for holding one of the first and second capsules, and a second brew chamber part for closing the first brew chamber part and having an extraction plate for abutting against an exit face of the hold capsule, and including a central and a peripheral portion, the central portion being axially movable relative to the peripheral portion from a first position to a second position, the apparatus including a locking mechanism for locking the central portion in the first position when the cavity holds the first capsule. A device to provide in-line flavor for water or other liquid stored in a container. An example device includes a body having a cylindrical shape chamber formed therein, and an opening on a first end of the body. A cartridge holder fits within the chamber of the body and retains a flavoring therein for the water or other liquid. The cartridge holder has a plurality of openings for the water or other liquid to flow through. When a user drinks from the drinking end, the water or other liquid flows from the container and through the housing and mixes with a flavoring from the cartridge holder before being drawn through to the drinking end so that the user drinks a flavored water or other liquid.

A beverage brewing device reduces the time required to produce a cold-brewed beverage. The brewer includes a container and a brewing material holder configured to be suspended from a lid of the container. The brewing material holder includes at least a mesh panel and is configured to support and contain brewing material in the brewing material holder. The lid assembly includes a mechanism configured to rotate the brewing material holder with respect to the lid about an axis extending away from the lid. The container is filled with water and the brewing material holder is filled with brewing material and submerged in the water within the container. Movement of the brewing material submerged in water substantially reduces the time required for cold brewing.

A detachable capsule-breaching head for a beverage-mixing device. The capsule-breaching head comprises a capsule 48-container body having a first body part which is telescopically movable on an actuation axis A relative to a second body part. The capsule-breaching head further has at least one capsule-receiving chamber in the first body part and a capsule-breaching element at the second body part movable relative to the capsule-receiving chamber on the actuation axis A. A discharge guide element guides a powder released from a capsule, an openable closure element sealingly closes the discharge guide element, and a removable access cover closes an access opening of the capsule-receiving chamber.

A portion capsule for producing a beverage includes a base element having a cavity in which a beverage raw material is provided and which is closed by a membrane fastened to the base element.

A method of processing cannabis plant matter is provided. It is a particular aspect of the invention to utilize cannabis waste from the processing methods and in a sense recycle and use the byproducts to create additional products. The method describes harvesting cannabis plant matter at a predetermined time, processing the cannabis plant matter to create cannabis juice and cannabis pulp, and utilizing the cannabis pulp to create additional products. This eliminates the waste from processing cannabis plant matter solving a potential crisis in the fact that cannabis plant matter having cannabinoids leech into the soil and water table from disposal.

The present invention provides improved spectral signature strategies for use in a wide range of product and service applications. The present invention encodes spectral signature features into one or more optical brightener compounds and/or one or more infrared absorbing compounds. Equipment is modified with appropriate ultraviolet/violet or infrared LED illumination sources and corresponding detectors, optionally optical filters, and optionally mask elements, in order to read the spectral responses. These features desirably are used in combination with one or more other luminescent taggant compounds.

The invention concerns a connector (3) for connecting a powder refilling container (2) comprising at least one flexible wall with a storing powder tank (3) of a beverage preparation machine wherein the connector is a tube, said tube presenting two ends, one first end (31) being configured for piercing the flexible wall (21) of the powder refilling container and for being attached to said wall, and one second end (32) being configured for being attached to the powder inlet (31) of the storing tank.

A brew module for use with a refrigerator appliance is provided. The brew module includes a brewing body and a pivotally attached lid that together define a brew chamber configured to receive a brew pod. A lower needle is positioned at the bottom of the brew chamber and an upper needle is slidably received within the lid. Pivoting the lid to the closed position forces the lower needle to pierce the brew pod first, thereby relieving any built up pressure. Thereafter, a moving water supply tube drives the upper needle downward to pierce a top cover of the brew pod along a substantially vertical direction, thus minimizing the size of the pierced hole in the top cover. The brew module thus facilitates an improved seal with the brew pod, reduces the risk of clogging the upper needle, and prevents the ejection of brew pod contents.
