The invention relates to an endoscope including an endoscope head, a wide-angle lens on the distal end of the endoscope head, and a working channel extending in the endoscope head. Proximally from the wide-angle lens, the working channel is bent laterally toward the outer circumference of the endoscope head, wherein a distal working channel opening is formed on a lateral side of the endoscope head.

An endoscope includes a lens, an imaging element, an element cover glass configured to cover an imaging surface of the imaging element, a lighting member, and a light-shielding member disposed between the lens and the lighting member. The lens has a quadrangular outer shape in a direction perpendicular to a direction along a center axis of the lens. The imaging element has a quadrangular outer shape in the direction perpendicular to the direction along the center axis of the lens. The lighting member is disposed outside a side of the lens and extends in the direction along the center axis of the lens. The light-shielding member extends in the direction along the center axis of the lens from an insertion tip surface in a tip portion of the endoscope to the imaging surface of the imaging element. The lens is attached to the element cover glass via an adhesive resin.
