Drill guide assembly and method
Disclosed is a system to engage one or more tools. In the system, a drive shaft and collet may be assembled to engage and disengage, selectively, a plurality of tools. A guide may be used with the system to select various features of a procedure, such as depth and position.
Offset reamer driver
A system, method and/or reamer driver device provides a fully closed tube which prevents the invasion of debris and minimizes abrasion of soft tissue during use. The reamer device includes a minimum number of component assemblies, so as to permit easy replacement and minimize wear.
Attachment for a powered surgical tool
A front end attachment for a powered surgical tool comprises a nose and an irrigation fitting. The nose extends forward from a proximal end of the nose. The nose defines a bore and an enclosed channel. The bore is for receiving a cutting accessory for movement therein. The enclosed channel extends longitudinally and helically along the nose such that, as the channel extends longitudinally, the channel curves around the nose so as to curve around the bore. The irrigation fitting is received by the enclosed channel in the nose.
SHAFT-TYPE INSTRUMENT FOR SURGICAL PURPOSES
The shaft-type instrument (1) has a shaft part (2), fixedly connected at one end to a shaft grip (3), and a sliding part (4). The sliding part (4) is displaceably mounted relative to the shaft part (2) and is, at one end, in operative connection with a pretensioned handgrip (5) such that by actuating the handgrip (5), the sliding part (4) is displaceable counter to the pretension. A respective lever arm (7, 7′) is articulated at two spaced apart shaft articulation points (6, 6′) on the shaft part (2) or shaft grip (3). The handgrip (5) has a coupling section (8) which connects the lever arms (7, 7′) and coupling joints (9, 9′) to one another such that same can pivot in the same direction. The coupling joints are spaced apart and a grip section (10) extends transverse to the coupling section (8) and to the shaft part (2).
Anchor apparatus
An anchor for anchoring tensile members to bone includes: a housing extending along a central axis, with a hollow interior; a collet in the hollow interior having a central bore for accepting tensile members and an exterior surface, the collet being configured to swage around and against tensile members; a sleeve having a peripheral wall defining interior and exterior surfaces, the sleeve disposed in the housing's hollow interior axially adjacent to the collet, and movable parallel to the central axis between first and second positions; and wherein at least one of the collet exterior surface and the sleeve interior surface is tapered and the sleeve and the collet are arranged so movement of the sleeve from the first position to the second position causes the sleeve interior surface to bear against the collet exterior surface, causing the collet to swage radially inwards around and against one or more tensile members.
Surgical Drill Handpiece with Adjustable Cutting Tool Guard
A system includes a handpiece and a removable tool assembly including a holder body, a shaft, a medical tool, a guard, and a sleeve. The body engages the handpiece and defines a bore. The shaft extends within the bore and the tool is provided to the distal end of the shaft. The guard is coupled to the body via a snap fit connection at the bore and may be friction fit to a bearing sleeve located between the guard and the shaft, such that longitudinal translation of the guard relative to the body longitudinally displaces the guard. The shaft extends within the bore of the body and the guard. The guard is positioned relative to the body by a distance to define a working length of the tool between the distal end of the guard and the distal tip of the tool. The working length of the tool may be used to cut tissue, without concern that cutting will be deeper than intended.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR COUPLING SOFT TISSUE TO A BONE
A method and apparatus for coupling a soft tissue implant into a locking cavity formed within a bone is disclosed. The apparatus includes a member to pull the soft tissue implant into a femoral tunnel. The member includes a suture having first and second ends which are passed through first and second openings associated with the longitudinal passage to form a pair of loops. Portions of the suture lay parallel to each other within the suture. Application of tension onto the suture construction causes retraction of the soft tissue implant into the femoral tunnel.
ADJUSTABLE REAMER DRIVER AND IMPACTOR, AND METHODS OF PREPARING SAID DRIVER AND IMPACTOR
An instrument comprising a body comprising a distal end spaced apart from a proximal end relative to a longitudinal axis and a handle coupling located near the proximal end, the body defining a channel miming between the distal end to the proximal end; a drive comprising a first connector located adjacent the distal end and adapted to be connected to a driven instrument, a second connector located adjacent the proximal end and adapted to be connected to a driving instrument, and a drive shaft arranged in the channel, the drive shaft coupling the second connector to the first connector; and an adjustable handle located near the distal end, the adjustable handle comprising a grip spacing apart a leading end from a trailing end along a handle axis, the leading end coupling the handle to the handle coupling, the trailing end shaped to define an impaction plate; wherein the adjustable handle is arrangeable relative to the body in a first and a second position, in the first position the leading end is arranged relative to the handle coupling such that the handle axis is offset relative to the longitudinal axis, and in the second position the leading end is arranged relative to the handle coupling such that the handle axis is parallel to the longitudinal axis.
Handheld surgical instrument
A handheld surgical instrument comprising an energy storage element, wherein the energy storage element is a spring coupled to the impacting mechanism, an impacting mechanism has a tip configured to impact a bone, wherein the tip includes a tapered point, a power transmission mechanism is configured to transmit energy from the energy storage element to the impacting mechanism, wherein the power transmission mechanism includes a semi-flexible metal wire guided by a hollow shaft, wherein the hollow shaft includes a distal end, the semi-flexible metal wire is includes a bend toward the distal end, a trigger mechanism is configured to release energy from the energy storage element, wherein the bend includes an angle between 14 degrees and 46 degrees, wherein the trigger mechanism includes a manual lever which, when actuated, simultaneously retracts the tip and charges the energy storage element.
Surgical drill guides and systems
Surgical drill guides having a guide shaft and a set of distal guide teeth extending from the guide shaft. The guide shaft has proximal and distal portions having two distinct inner and outer diameters, with a tapered zone extending between the two portions. Wall thickness is maintained or increased from the proximal portion to the distal portion of the shaft, reinforcing the rigidity of both the shaft and the distal guide teeth.
