EXTERNAL FIXATOR ASSEMBLY

External fixator assemblies, systems, and methods thereof. An external fixator system may include a plurality of fixator assemblies configured to connect a plurality of pins, for example, positioned on opposite sides of a fractured bone, with one more rods. The fixator assemblies may include a plurality of clamp assemblies that are configured to clamp onto the rods. A distractor/compression instrument is used to adjust the location of a clamp assembly along the length of its rod.

MOTOR-DRIVEN FIXATOR TO APPLY MICROMOTION TO FRACTURE SITE TO ACCELERATE BONE HEALING

Devices and methods for treating bone fractures involving a micromotional unit (6) that produces reciprocating displacement between two fracture fragments (1) to thereby apply controllable micromotion to a fracture site.

System for connecting a connection device to a bone

System for connecting a connection device to a bone with a bone pin, wherein the system comprises a connection device provided with an opening for receiving the bone pin, and wherein the system further comprises a locking device arranged to be received in the opening of the connection device and which is arranged to engage the bone pin for locking the bone pin with respect to the connection device, wherein the locking device is movable between a locked position, wherein the bone pin is locked with respect to the connection device, and an unlocked position wherein the bone pin is movable with respect the connection device, wherein the system further comprises a blocking mechanism for at least partially blocking the opening in the connection device upon removal of the bone pin from the opening.

PATIENT SPECIFIC FRACTURE PLATES WITH BONE FRAGMENT BASED SCREW ORIENTATION

The present invention provides a method for generating a bone fixation implant and related preoperative planning. The method comprises a first step of determining at least the orientation and the position of the fixation means, based on a 3D model of the bone fragments. The method may include a second step of defining the shape of one or more bone plates, based on the output of the first step. The method may further include a third step determining tools for applying fixation means during surgery, according the optimized configuration defined in the first step and applying the bone plates from the second step. The method may even further include a fourth step, quantifying construct stability for a given patient following surgery, thereby allowing early weightbearing.

FIXATOR APPARATUS FOR THE TREATMENT OF OPEN CALCANEAL FRACTURES

A fixator apparatus has a lateral fixator distal apparatus, a lateral fixator proximal apparatus, a lateral fixator joint, a posterior joint, an Essex-lopresti apparatus, a lateral transmission housing, a posterior transmission housing, and a distraction apparatus. The fixator apparatus facilitates reduction, provides two-plan fixation, and increases stability.

Orthopedic spring hinge systems and methods

An orthopedic spring hinge and associated external fixation systems for the treatment of anatomical joint dysfunctions, and more particularly, to a spring hinge comprising a first base member, a second base member, a flexible first spring having a first longitudinal axis extending from the first base member to the second base member, and a flexible second spring spaced apart from the first spring and having a second longitudinal axis extending from the first base member to the second base member. The spring hinge is configured to have a maximum bending resistance in a first plane extending between the first spring and the second spring and a minimum bending resistance in a second plane orthogonal to the first plane.

Fixation clamp with spacer

A clamping device of an external fixation system that has a jaw set with a passage at one end configured to hold an element from a first range of sizes and a second passage configured to hold an element from a different range of sizes. The jaw set includes a first jaw, a second jaw, and a slider interposed between the first and second jaws that moves to a first position when the first element is located in the first passage and to a second position when the second element is located in the second passage.

External locking fixation device for extra-articular fractures

A locking fixation device for treating extra-articular fractures includes a connector assembly connected to two end plates. Rotation of the connector assembly about an axis extending therethrough converts rotational motion to linear motion, and advances the end plates in a linear direction away from (lengthening) or toward (compression) each other.

External load bearing distracting device for an articulating anatomical joint

An external load bearing distracting device, which can be positioned to fully unload a knee joint cartilage while providing the knee joint normal motion, for an articulating anatomical joint. The device includes first and second rotatable extensions arranged longitudinally on opposite sides of the joint, and first and second translational inserts slidably arranged inside the first and second rotatable extensions, respectively. The joint may comprise a ball-and-ring-joint or a cardan joint. The first and second translational inserts include a threaded portion and a pair of threaded nuts thereon, which abut a retainer on each of the first and second rotatable extensions to limit longitudinal translation. The external load-bearing distracting device is temporarily attached to the patient, preferably for a period of 6 to 8 weeks, and is intended for use to treat osteoarthritis, focal cartilage defects, and fractures inside the knee joint, among other conditions of articulating anatomical joints.
