CONNECTION MECHANISMS FOR COUPLING PRINTED CIRCUIT BOARD MODULES TO A RING IN AN AUTOMATED AND/OR MOTORIZED SPATIAL FRAME

An automated and/or motorized spatial frame including a control unit and a plurality of motorized struts is disclosed. The control unit being configured as a controller for exchanging data with an external computing system, exchanging data with the plurality of motorized struts, and delivering power to the motorized struts. Thus arranged, the control unit may be configured as a fully integrated power supply and controller for powering and controlling the motorized struts. In some embodiments, the control unit includes a plurality of PCB modules, each positioned within the spaces or pockets formed between adjacent tabs on a ring of the frame. The PCB modules being detachably coupled to the ring. In some embodiments, the PCB modules may be detachably coupled to the ring via interconnecting male and female connectors. Alternatively, the PCB modules may be detachably coupled to the ring via a plurality of brackets.

EXTERNAL FIXATOR ASSEMBLY

External fixator assemblies, systems, and methods thereof. An external fixator system may include a plurality of fixator assemblies configured to connect a plurality of pins, for example, positioned on opposite sides of a fractured bone, with one more rods. The fixator assemblies may include a plurality of clamp assemblies that are configured to clamp onto the rods. A distractor/compression instrument is used to adjust the location of a clamp assembly along the length of its rod.

UNIVERSAL CLAMP APPARATUS FOR BONE FIXATION DEVICE

A universal clamp apparatus for orthopedic exterior fixators is disclosed. Preferably, the universal clamp apparatus has two pin/rod clamps, each having seating grooves for attaching to a frame rod associated with a frame of the fixator and/or a bone pin for implantation in a bone fragment. A clamp screw extends through and connects the first and second pin/rod clamps. An ergonomically designed knob having at least one collapsible or non-collapsible turn lever acts as a torque amplifier when rotated by hand without tools to tighten and untighten the pin/rod clamps to the frame rod and/or bone pin by movement along the clamp screw. The pin/rod clamps have planar sides that are contiguous and have radial ratchet grooves that are in mating engagement and provide a ratcheting mechanism so that the rotation of the pin/rod clamps relative to each other occurs in incremental rotational steps.

Medical positioning device

The present invention relates to a medical positioning device. In one example, the device comprises comprising a first carriage assembly configured for mounting a first pin, wherein the orientation of the first pin is adjustable by a first spherical joint with three rotational degrees of freedom with an angular range of at least ±10° each, a second carriage assembly configured for mounting a second pin, wherein the orientation of the second pin is adjustable by a second spherical joint with three rotational degrees of freedom with an angular range of at least ±10° each and an extension assembly configured for adjusting a distance between the first pin and the second pin.

Paraxial revision rod-to-rod connector

Disclosed herein are an orthopedic rod-to-rod connector and rod-to-rod connector assemblies for spinal fusion surgery. The rod-to-rod connector may include a first connector portion and a second connector portion. The first connector portion may have a first aperture configured to receive at least a portion of a bone-engaging screw and a first spinal rod. The second connector portion may be rotatably connected with the first connector portion and may include a second aperture to receive a second spinal rod. The second connector portion may be L-shaped and may include a set screw to control rotation of the first connector portion with respect to the second connector portion.

External fixation devices for posterior pelvic compression and methods of use

Various implementations include an external fixation device for posterior pelvic compression that allows a pin engaged into one iliac bone to be pivoted relative to the pin engaged into the other iliac bone, allowing compression of the iliac bones toward each other and the interposed sacrum and for the relative positions of the pins to be held fixed relative to each other after the compression is set. The pin to be pivoted is engaged into the iliac bone closest to the source of the injury. And, the pins and bars of the fixation device are anteriorly coupled together, which gives the patient greater transportability, as well as maintenance of reduction that will assist in the definitive surgical intervention.

A device includes a plurality of rings. Each ring has a first face, a second face, and at least one slot defined by first and second interior edges of the ring on opposing sides of the slot. The at least one slot penetrates from the first face to the second face. The first face of each ring has a first recess adjacent the slot on the first edge and a second recess adjacent the slot on the second edge. A plurality of posts join each one of the plurality of rings to an adjacent one of the plurality of rings.

A clamping device of an external fixation system that has a jaw set with a passage at one end configured to hold an element from a first range of sizes and a second passage configured to hold an element from a different range of sizes. The jaw set includes a first jaw, a second jaw, and a slider interposed between the first and second jaws that moves to a first position when the first element is located in the first passage and to a second position when the second element is located in the second passage.

CONVERSION KIT FOR AN EXTERNAL FIXATION SYSTEM

A kit and corresponding methods of use are disclosed. In use, the kit includes a plurality of articulating clamps for coupling to one of the rings of an external fixation system. In use, the clamps include a body portion having a stem arranged and configured to be received within an opening formed in one of the rings. The clamp further including a clamp assembly for engaging a rod spanning the first and second rings. Thus arranged, the clamp may be directly coupled to one of the rings and the rod, the clamp enabling the position of the ring to be adjusted relative to the rod. As such, the clamps may enable, inter alia, a hexapod external fixation system to be converted into a static frame, a static frame to be constructed in a more efficient manner, and/or creation of an enlarged visualization or working window.
