Hip Joint Device
A medical device for treating hip joint osteoarthritis in a human patient by providing at least one artificial hip joint surface. The medical device comprises a prosthetic part or a bone plug adapted to be placed in a hole in the pelvic bone and a supporting member connected to said prosthetic part or bone plug, wherein the prosthetic part or the bone plug is adapted to be inserted into said hole from the abdominal side of the acetabulum and oriented, during the insertion, such that the concave interior surface is facing in the direction towards the caput femur. Wherein the medical device comprises an artificial caput femur surface or artificial acetabulum surface, and wherein a largest cross-sectional distance of said artificial caput femur or acetabulum surface is smaller than said hole, such that said artificial caput femur surface can pass through said hole.
DISCRETE DERIVATIVE DIFFERENTIAL CIRCUIT DRIVEN SYSTEM AND METHODS FOR DETERMNING THE CURE OF PMMA INTRAOPERATIVELY AFTER IMPLANTATION OF AN ORTHOPEDIC DEVICE
The invention comprises a system for securing an implant to a bone comprising an implant which is affixed to the bone, a grout or bone cement comprising a composition that cures in an exothermic reaction and which is capable of securing the implant to the bone in a cured state, and a tester which measures temperature over time to detect a rate change of temperature and uses a novel discrete differentiator circuit to determine when the composition reaches cure.
Removable head assembly for artificial joint
In an artificial joint that includes a head assembly attached by taper fit to a proximal portion of a surgically implanted stem, it may become necessary to surgically remove the head assembly. A puller can simultaneously apply a force distally to a non-peripheral portion of a proximal side of the head assembly and proximally to several locations spaced apart around a circumference of the distal side of the head assembly. In some examples, the proximal side of the head assembly includes a plug disposed at the non-peripheral portion. The puller can force the plug into contact with the proximal end of the stem, then apply the distal force through the plug to the stem. In other examples lacking a plug, the non-peripheral portion of the head can deform or break in response to the applied distal force, so that the distal force can apply to the stem.
SURGICAL SYSTEM AND METHOD
A surgical instrument includes a body having an actuator and being connectable with a pressurized fluid source. A first member is connected with the body and the fluid source. The first member is configured for connection with an implant disposable between a contracted configuration and an expanded configuration. A second member defines a cavity configured for disposal of the first member and the expandable implant. The second member is connected with the actuator for selective translation relative to the first member to position the implant in the contracted configuration. Systems, implants and methods are disclosed.
Polyaxial bone fixation element
The present disclosure includes a polyaxial bone fixation element for use in spinal fixation to interconnect a longitudinal spinal rod with a patient's vertebra. The polyaxial bone fixation element preferably includes a bone anchor, a collet, a body, and a locking cap. The polyaxial bone fixation element preferably enables in-situ assembly. That is, the polyaxial bone fixation element is preferably configured so that in use, the bone anchor may be secured to the patient's vertebra prior to being received within the body. Accordingly, the polyaxial bone fixation element enables a surgeon to implant the bone anchor without the body to maximize visibility and access around the anchoring site. Once the bone anchor has been secured to the patient's vertebra, the body can be snapped-onto the bone anchor. The bone anchor preferably also includes a second tool interface so that a surgical instrument can be directly coupled to the bone anchor.
Medical implant for targeted injection
Disclosed is an implant through which a liquid or pasty material can be injected in a targeted manner. This implant is composed of: a main implant with a lumen extending along its entire length, the body of the main implant being of hexagonal cross section, with the plane faces drilled with internally threaded holes which open into the lumen and are intended to remain open or to be plugged by one or more micro screws of the complementary implants, the distal end and proximal end of the implant being threaded; one or more complementary implants, for each of which the micro screw thereof, intended to cooperate with the internally threaded holes of the main implant, is connected to its insertion sleeve by way of a separable zone. The implant is intended in particular for surgical interventions.
