IN VIVO TEMPERATURE CONTROL SYSTEM
An in vivo temperature control system has a monitor for the internal temperature of a biological organ such as the esophagus, and for directly controls the temperature in the organ side depending on the monitoring. The in vivo temperature control system includes: a catheter insertable into a living body; a temperature probe containing a temperature sensor, the probe being insertable into the catheter; a liquid storage section for storing a temperature-controlled liquid; a pump for supplying the liquid from the liquid storage section to the catheter; and a control section for controlling driving of the pump based on a signal detected from the temperature probe; wherein the control section controls the pump when the signal has reached a preset threshold, and the pump is driven such that the liquid in the liquid storage section is released to the outside through the catheter.
Treatment device having multifunctional sensing elements and method of use
A device, system, and method for treating an area of tissue and evaluating lesion formation and quality. The system may include a medical device having a plurality of mapping electrodes on a treatment element, the plurality of mapping electrodes being configured to record from the area of tissue at least one of unipolar impedance measurements, bipolar impedance measurements, local electrical activity, and pace threshold measurements before, during, and after circulation of the cryogenic fluid within the treatment element. These measurements may be transmitted to a control unit having processing circuitry configured to compare pre-treatment measurements, in-treatment measurements, and/or post-treatment measurements to each other and/or to threshold values to determine occlusion and/or lesion quality, such as lesion transmurality.
AUTOMATIC REGISTRATION OF AN ANATOMICAL MAP TO A PREVIOUS ANATOMICAL MAP
A method includes calculating a first medial-axis tree graph of a volume of an organ of a patient in a first computerized anatomical map of the volume, acquired at a first time. A second medial-axis tree graph is calculated, of a volume of the organ of the patient in a second computerized anatomical map of the volume, acquired at a second time that is different from the first time. A deviation is detected and estimated, between the first and second tree-graphs. Using the estimated deviation, the first and second medial-axis tree graphs are registered with one another. Using the registered first and second tree graphs, the first and second computerized anatomical maps are combined.
Catheter system
One aspect relates to a catheter system, a use of such catheter system and a manufacturing method for such catheter system. The catheter system includes an at least partially flexible catheter body, at least a ring electrode, and at least a strain gauge. The ring electrode surrounds at least a portion of the flexible catheter body. The strain gauge is allocated to the ring electrode and the strain gauge is configured to measure a deformation of the flexible catheter body at a position allocated to the ring electrode to detect a contact between the ring electrode and tissue.
Systems, apparatuses and methods for delivery of ablative energy to tissue
A system includes a pulse waveform generator and an ablation device coupled to the pulse waveform generator. The ablation device includes at least one electrode configured for ablation pulse delivery to tissue during use. The pulse waveform generator is configured to deliver voltage pulses to the ablation device in the form of a pulsed waveform. The pulsed waveform can include multiple levels of hierarchy, and multiple sets of electrodes can be activated such that their pulsed delivery is interleaved with one another.
System and method for temperature control in irrigated ablation
A catheter ablation system includes: a catheter probe having distal end including: a temperature sensor; a plurality of irrigation holes; and an ablating electrode; a radiofrequency (RF) heating controller coupled to the catheter probe and configured to supply RF energy to the ablating electrode to control the ablating electrode to emit heat at a target power; an irrigation controller coupled to the catheter probe and configured to supply an irrigation fluid at a continuously adjustable irrigation flow rate through the catheter probe to exit through the irrigation holes; and an operating console having a processor and memory, the memory storing instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to control the irrigation controller to set the irrigation flow rate based on the target power and a target average temperature.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR APPLYING ENERGY TO DENERVATE A PULMONARY ARTERY
A catheter system for ablation of tissue around a blood vessel, e.g., the pulmonary artery, to reduce neural activity of nerves surrounding the blood vessel. The catheter system includes an elongate shaft having a proximal portion coupled to a handle, and a distal portion. The distal portion includes a transducer and an expandable anchor, which may be actuated to transition between a collapsed delivery state and an expanded deployed state where the anchor centralizes the transducer within the blood vessel. The transducer may be actuated to emit energy to reduce neural activity of the nerves surrounding the blood vessel. Systems and method are further provided for confirming that neural activity of the nerves surround the blood vessel has been sufficiently reduced.
Systems, apparatuses, and methods for protecting electronic components from high power noise induced by high voltage pulses
Systems, devices, and methods for electroporation ablation therapy are disclosed, with a protection device for isolating electronic circuitry, devices, and/or other components from a set of electrodes during a cardiac ablation procedure. A system can include a first set of electrodes disposable near cardiac tissue of a heart and a second set of electrodes disposable in contact with patient anatomy. The system can further include a signal generator configured to generate a pulse waveform, where the signal generator coupled to the first set of electrodes and configured to repeatedly deliver the pulse waveform to the first set of electrodes. The system can further include a protection device configured to selectively couple and decouple an electronic device to the second set of electrodes.
DEVICES, SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR ASSISTANCE OF BALLOON ABLATION
Systems, devices, and methods for guiding an ablation procedure are provided. For example, in one embodiment, a system for guiding ablation includes a processor circuit in communication an electrophysiology (EP) catheter comprising a plurality of electrodes. The EP catheter is positioned near an ablation balloon during placement at the ablation site, and is used to detect blood flow within a cavity of the heart by detecting electrical signals relating to dielectric properties. It can then be determined whether any gaps are present at the interface between the balloon and the ablation site. For example, the processor circuit can determine, based on the detected blood flow, whether a balloon occludes a region of interest. The processor then outputs a visualization indicating whether the balloon occludes the region of interest to a display.
