Apparatus and method for closure of the patent foramen ovale (PFO) is provided using expandable discs to appose the septum primum and septum secundum and to apply bipolar radiofrequency energy to anneal the tissues.

ELECTROSURGICAL DEVICE WITH SENSING

A system comprising a generator which is capable of supplying energy for puncturing a tissue and an electrical current of known voltage, wherein the electrical current of known voltage can pass through the tissue without damaging the tissue. The system also includes a puncturing device comprising an elongate member. A distal tip of the elongate member comprises an energy delivery device which is configured for delivering the energy for puncturing and two electrodes which are configured for delivering the electrical current of known voltage from one electrode to the other through a material which is in contact with the distal tip. The system further includes a sensor which is capable of detecting a value of the electrical current between the two electrodes. The generator comprises a generator switch for disabling energy delivery tip based on the value of the electric current detected by the sensor.

MICROCATHETER

A septostomy device 10 with a cutting structure or means 140 and tissue capture mechanisms 240, 250 is disclosed, along with a medical procedure for using the device. The system 10 is configured in such a way as to create a permanent interatrial aperture in the heart, including creating a permanent interatrial hole and/or removing tissue.

MEDICAL SHEATH AND SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR USING MEDICAL SHEATH
20220273374 · 2022-09-01 ·

A medical sheath includes an elongate member having a sidewall extending longitudinally between a proximal end portion of the elongate member and an opposed distal end portion of the elongate member, and radially between an outer surface of the elongate member and an inner surface of the elongate member. A lumen is defined by the inner surface and extends through the elongate member from the proximal end portion to the distal end portion. At least a first echogenic band is associated with the distal end portion and is secured to the sidewall.

A medical dilator includes an elongate member having a proximal end portion, an opposed distal end portion, and a lumen extending through the elongate member from the proximal end portion to the distal end portion. A dilating tip is at the distal end portion. The dilating tip has a first end of enlarged cross-sectional area and tapers going in the distal direction to a second end of reduced cross-sectional area. At least a first electrode is associated with the dilating tip. An electrical conductor is electrically connected to the first electrode and extends proximally from the first electrode towards the proximal end portion for electrical connection with an electro anatomical mapping system.

ENERGY GENERATING DEVICE AND CAUTERIZATION SYSTEM

An energy generating device and a cauterization system capable of uniformly cauterizing a biological tissue at a desired damage level, and reducing the generation of tissue damage or the generation of peripheral embolism caused by the formation of blood clots. The energy generating device includes a control unit that controls an electric energy output to electrodes that cauterize a biological tissue. The control unit includes an impedance calculation unit that calculates an impedance between an electrode and an electrode serving as a return electrode of the electrode, and an output adjustment unit that causes electric power to the electrodes to decrease when the impedance calculated by the impedance calculation unit is equal to or greater than a predetermined threshold value.
