GUIDED RENAL DENERVATION USING NERVE STIMULATION WITH BLOOD PRESSURE AND RENAL BLOOD VELOCITY MEASUREMENTS, AND ASSOCIATED SYSTEMS, DEVICE, AND METHODS
A system includes a processor circuit configured to receive an endovascular flow measurement obtained by an endovascular flow measurement positioned within a blood vessel of a patient. The system controls a nerve stimulation device to stimulate a nerve of the patient and receives an additional endovascular flow measurement while the nerve is stimulated. The processor circuit then performs a comparison of the two flow measurements received and provides an output based on the comparison.
MEMS AIRBORNE ULTRASONIC TRANSDUCER SYSTEM FOR DETECTING BRAIN HAEMORRHAGE
An MEMS airborne ultrasonic transducer system operating on a thermoacoustic principle to determine brain haemorrhage, includes: an RF transmitter and ultrasound receiver systems to transmit RF energy and receive ultrasound wave, respectively, an RF transmitter system having an RF signal generator, an RF amplifier and a horn antenna, and an ultrasound receiver system having a lock-in amplifier, a DC supply and two ultrasonic transducer arrays wirebonded to low noise amplifier (LNA) chips. The MEMS airborne ultrasonic transducer system determines brain haemorrhage based on detecting RF-induced, blood-originating, thermoacoustic ultrasound wave at the pulse modulation frequency.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR LASER CATHETER TREATMENT IN A VESSEL LUMEN
Systems and methods for laser catheter treatment in a vessel lumen. The method includes inserting the laser catheter within the vessel lumen to a location of a treatment area; presenting an image of the treatment area within the vessel lumen based on using an ultrasound (US) imaging system; and, detecting, in real-time, a bubble cloud that is a function of the laser catheter operation (at a prescribed speed and controlling a fluence and a pulse rate) in the treatment area. The method determines a vessel diameter, a real-time location and measurements of the bubble cloud, and estimates a dwell position and dwell time. A dynamic displayed image that is indicative of a progression of the laser catheter treatment is presented, and commands may be generated to modify the laser catheter parameters responsive to the estimated dwell position, the estimated dwell time, and a recommended treatment protocol.
Cancer Treatment Methods Using Thermotherapy And/Or Enhanced Immunotherapy
Cancer treatment methods using thermotherapy and/or enhanced immunotherapy are disclosed herein. In one embodiment, the method comprising the steps of: (i) applying controlled thermal energy at 40-43° C. for a first predetermined time period to damage and weaken tumor cells of a tumor in a patient; (ii) administering pulsed high intensity focused ultrasound (pHIFU) in a first ultrasound mode to the tumor cells in the patient so as to damage the tumor cells without increasing the thermal energy; and (iii) administering low intensity focused ultrasound (LIFU) in a second ultrasound mode to further damage the tumor cells at a temperature of 39-43° C. for a second predetermined time period while performing observation of the tumor cells by ultrasonic thermometry.
BRAIN MEASUREMENT APPARATUS AND BRAIN MEASUREMENT METHOD
A brain measurement apparatus configured to generate an MR image and a brain's magnetic field distribution of a subject includes: an MRI module having a transmission coil configured to transmit a transmission pulse toward the subject and a detection coil configured to detect a nuclear magnetic resonance signal generated in the subject by the transmission pulse; an optically pumped magnetometer configured to detect a brain's magnetic field of the subject; a generator configured to generate the MR image based on the nuclear magnetic resonance signal detected by the detection coil and generating the brain's magnetic field distribution based on the brain's magnetic field detected by the optically pumped magnetometer; a marker displayed on the MR image generated by the generator; and a helmet-type frame to which the detection coil, the optically pumped magnetometer, and the marker are attached and which is attached to a head of the subject.
THERMOACOUSTIC IMAGING DEVICE WITH AN ACOUSTIC COUPLING PORTION
A thermoacoustic imaging device for coupling to a region of interest on a patient is disclosed. The device includes a housing having a surface, wherein the surface comprises an acoustic coupling portion having a substantially perpendicular extent relative to the surface. In one embodiment, the perpendicular extent extends to the surface. In one embodiment, the perpendicular extent extends to the surface and the outwardly from the surface. In one embodiment, the perpendicular extent extends only from the surface.
Body fat combustion amount measurement device
A body fat combustion amount measurement device includes: a sample gas passage through which an exhaled gas flows; a sample gas chamber having an inlet through which a part of the exhaled gas flowing through the sample gas passage is introduced and an outlet through which the exhaled gas is discharged, the sample gas chamber configured to define an internal space through which the exhaled gas flows; a photoionization detector disposed in the internal space of the sample gas chamber and configured to generate an electrical signal corresponding to an amount of acetone contained in the exhaled gas existing inside the sample gas chamber; and a heater configured to increase a temperature of the internal space of the sample gas chamber to prevent moisture contained in the exhaled gas from being condensed in the sample gas chamber.
Compositions and systems for renal function determination
The present disclosure relates to systems and methods for determining the renal glomerular filtration rate or assessing the renal function in a patient in need thereof. The system includes a computing device, a power supply, one or more sensors, and at least one tracer agent that fluoresces when exposed to electromagnetic radiation. The electromagnetic radiation is detected using the sensors, and the rate in which the fluorescence decreases in the patient is used to calculate the renal glomerular filtration rate in the patient.
Biosensor with a gap region for continuous monitoring
A biosensing device for continuous monitoring of an analyte in a fluid matrix includes an electromagnetic excitation element [402], a biosensing surface [406], an opposing surface [410], a separation component [420,422], light collection optics [412], a light sensor [414], an image recording and analysis system [416], and an excitation control system [400]. The separation component is connected to the biosensing surface and to the opposing surface, forming a concave gap region [408] between the biosensing surface and the opposing surface. The biosensing surface comprises biosensing particles sensitive to electromagnetic signals from the electromagnetic excitation element, where an optical response of the biosensing particles to the electromagnetic signals is adapted to change in the presence of an analyte in the gap region. The light collection optics couple light emitted from the biosensing particles on the biosensing surface to the light sensor. The image recording and analysis system is connected to the light sensor and processes light signals from the biosensing particles to determine presence or absence or concentration of the analyte in the fluid matrix.
ASSESSMENT OF PHYSICAL FITNESS OF AN ANIMAL OR HUMAN INDIVIDUAL
The invention determines an efficiency value (E) denoting preferably the relative period of muscle fibre activity during a recorded period of exercise, and a strength value (S) representing the number of muscle fibres recruited during a movement as part of the exercise or of a muscle contraction, and a temporal value (T) representing the frequency with which muscle fibres are activated repeatedly during exercise, and finally combines the efficiency value (E), the strength value (S) and the temporal value (T) by a linear combination to obtain an index value (ESTi) indicative of the fitness level of the individual. The obtained ESTi Score is useful for assessing the training level of an animal or human individual and the individual's potential for different types of sports and other activity. Also the effect of past training or diet can be assessed, and the possible need for changes in training or diet can be assessed.
