11504509 · 2022-11-22 · ·

Embodiments for a cerebrospinal fluid flow detector for detecting the flow of cerebrospinal fluid are disclosed. In some embodiments, the cerebrospinal fluid flow detector includes a casing with a rotatable wheel having a plurality of radially extending arms disposed therein. The rotatable wheel is in communication with a channel having a distal end in communication with an inlet port and a proximal end in communication with an outlet port such that the flow of cerebrospinal fluid through the channel causes the rotatable wheel to rotate. In some embodiments, each radially extending arm includes at least one radiopaque marker in which movement of the rotatable wheel caused by fluid flow through the channel allows an X-ray imaging apparatus to detect the difference in position of a respective radiopaque marker at multiple times caused by rotation of the rotatable wheel.

PRESSURIZED GOGGLE FOR INTRAOCULAR PRESSURE MODIFICATION
20230043903 · 2023-02-09 ·

Assemblies and methods for modifying an intraocular pressure of a patient's one or both eyes are disclosed. The assemblies and methods can be used to treat, inhibit, or prevent ocular conditions such as glaucoma, high intraocular pressure, optic disc edema, idiopathic intracranial hypertension, zero-gravity induced papilledema, and other optic pressure related conditions. An assembly can include a goggle including at least one cavity, a pump in fluid communication with the at least one cavity, and a control mechanism. The control mechanism can be operatively coupled to the pump and can maintain a target pressure or target pressure range in the at least one cavity, which, when the assembly is worn by a patient, is the area between a patient's eye(s) and wall surfaces of the goggle. Controlling the pressure over the outer surfaces of the patient's eye(s) can drive a desired change in the intraocular pressure of the eye(s).

Blood pressure monitoring with zero function system and method
11666233 · 2023-06-06 · ·

A system and method for monitoring the blood pressure of a patient that allows for a device sensor to be recalibrated according to atmospheric pressure without removing the device sensor from inside the patient. This permits quickly monitoring the blood pressure of a patient if a re-zero is needed. The invention has a blood pressure monitor (BPM) that obtains an atmospheric pressure observation. The atmospheric pressure observation is adjusted and stored to memory as a zero value. The zero value is retrieved to recalibrate the system and method if a device sensor has been disconnected from and reconnected to the same or a different BPM, the patient has been moved such that the surroundings have been altered to make it necessary to recalibrate according to atmospheric pressure, and/or the device sensor has been connected to a different patient care monitor.

Fully-passive sensor systems that receive an input electromagnetic signal and return an output electromagnetic signal are described. The sensor systems can be used to measure pressure in biological or non-biological systems.

System and method for monitoring and delivering therapeutics to the spinal cord

This invention is a continuous monitor of the spinal cord and brain microenvironment in injury and disease that also allows therapeutic interventions. It utilizes a multiport catheter that contains a transducer at the tip for monitoring spinal physiological parameters and also allows via additional ports for sampling and exchange of spinal fluid, as well as drug delivery to the central nervous system. This invention allows for more precise therapeutic interventions in spinal cord and brain injury and disease. If the pressure monitor is mounted to the patient, the wireless data transmitter may also send a wireless signal to a wireless data receiver for display on a wireless data display. The catheter would allow for wireless transmission of physiological parameters.

GENERATING IMAGING-BASED NEUROLOGICAL STATE BIOMARKERS AND ESTIMATING CEREBROSPINAL FLUID (CSF) DYNAMICS BASED ON COUPLED NEURAL AND CSF OSCILLATIONS DURING SLEEP
20220183561 · 2022-06-16 ·

An imaging-based biomarker that indicates a neurological state of a subject is generated from magnetic resonance imaging data acquired from the subject while the subject was sleeping, or during both a sleep state and wake state. These magnetic resonance imaging data are acquired in such a way so that they simultaneously enable measurement of cerebrospinal fluid (“CSF”) flow and blood-oxygenation-level dependent (“BOLD”) signals. The imaging-based biomarker can be generated based on a correlation between CSF signals and BOLD signals extracted from these magnetic resonance imaging data. Using electroencephalography (“EEG”) data, CSF flow dynamics can also be estimated based on a physiological model in which coherent neural activity is modeled as entraining oscillations in blood volume and CSF.
