DEVICE AND METHOD FOR STANDARDIZING SITE ASSESSMENT OF CATHETER INSERTION SITE
A method for site assessments of a catheter insertion site and/or dressing includes: scanning the catheter insertion site and/or dressing with an image capture device and/or sensor; selecting a patient baseline site location and skin tone; recording a baseline condition using a computing device; determining a site assessment rate using a computing device; prompting a clinician to make a site assessment of the catheter insertion site and/or dressing using a computing device; and recording site assessment information in an electronic medical record using a computing device.
Body Fluids Sampling Device and Method of using the Same
A fluid sampling device and a method is provided for collecting body fluid samples such as blood without the intervention of medically trained personnel. The body fluid sampling device having a sample containment chamber made of a material having a thermal inertia permitting the maintenance of sample temperature over a known period of time. Optionally an isolating cover or sleeve may slide in place by a mechanism triggered by thermal contraction of an element after the device has reached a sufficiently low temperature in a patients refrigerator. Associated methods are provided to ensure hermetic transport of the collected body fluid sample to an analysis lab. Also disclosed is a device and app combination for drug or vaccine injection, the app including means to allow for verification of the patient's ID and/or the particular device used. The device my be equipped with geo-localization and long-range communication capabilities.
PROCESSING OF DRIED BLOOD SAMPLES ON LATERAL FLOW PAPER
A grinder (220) is provided for use in a method of processing a piece of lateral flow paper, comprising a grinder body (222) defining a grinder storage volume (226) with a top opening for accessing the grinder storage volume and one or more through holes (228) providing a fluid connection through the grinder body into the grinder storage volume, wherein the grinder body further comprises one or more grinding protrusions (229) at an outer surface of the grinder body. Furthermore, a sample container (200) is provided for storing a blood sample provided on a piece of lateral flow paper, comprising a sample container body with a base part, a cylindrical wall extending from the base part and defining a storage volume with an opening for accessing the storage volume, wherein the base part comprises one or more protrusions (209) extending into the storage volume.
Handheld blood glucose monitoring device with messaging capability
A patient monitoring network pertaining to blood glucose and other analyte measurements includes wireless blood glucose or other analyte measuring devices and a networked computer or server. Each monitoring device is associated with a patient and is configured to measure the glucose level or other analyte from a given blood sample via inserted test strips, transmit the measurements to the networked computer, and display received messages. The blood glucose monitoring device includes means for substantially reducing factors that could affect the glucose measurement such as thermal and RF interference.
Automatic blood-sampling tube preparation system
The present invention provides an automatic blood-sampling tube preparation system which can reduce the reading mistake of the information of the RFID tags by selectively taking out a blood-sampling tube required to an examination of a patient according to a doctor's instruction information from the blood-sampling tube containing section, writing the patient examination information on a RFID tag of the taken out tube on the basis of the instruction information, reading simultaneously all patient examination information from all RFID tags contained in the prepared container for every patient, and comparing the information read from the RFID tags with the instruction information to ensure accuracy.
Bodily fluid sample collection and transport
Bodily fluid sample collection systems, devices, and method are provided. The sample is collected at a first location and subjected to a first sample processing step. The sample may be shipped to a second location and subjected to a second sample processing step that does not introduce contaminants into a plasma portion of the sample formed from the first processing step. The sample may also be mixed with other material(s) in the collection device.
Systems, methods, and devices for reducing the pain of glucose monitoring and diabetes treatment
The various embodiments disclosed herein are devices that deliver electrical stimulation and/or vibration stimulation to the surface of skin in proximity to insulin injections and/or glucose testing in order to decrease or eliminate the pain of these procedures.
Wearable electronic device for enhancing visualization during insertion of an invasive device
A wearable electronic device configured to be worn by a user while performing an invasive procedure for enhancing visualization of desired anatomical structures is provided. The wearable electronic device includes: a housing; at least one imaging sensor associated with the housing; and a visual display integrally formed with or associated with the housing. The device is configured to acquire an image of an invasive access site of a patient with the at least one imaging sensor, process the image to determine a location of a desired anatomical structure, and display a virtual trace of the location to the user via the visual display.
Biological fluid collection device and biological fluid collection system
A biological fluid collection device that is adapted to receive a blood sample is disclosed. The biological fluid collection device includes a housing, a puncturing element transitionable between a pre-actuated position wherein the puncturing element is retained within the housing and a puncturing position wherein at least a portion of the puncturing element extends through the housing, and a cartridge removably connectable to a portion of the housing. After collecting a blood sample, the cartridge is removable from the housing and the cartridge is able to transfer the blood sample to a point-of-care testing device. The biological fluid collection device provides a closed system that reduces the exposure of a blood sample and provides fast mixing of a blood sample with a sample stabilizer.
Systems, Methods, and Devices for Sample Collection, Stabilization and Preservation
Herein, systems and methods are disclosed including a sample acquisition component (SAC) for user-friendly sample collection, a separation component for optional separation of plasma, and one or more stabilization components for stabilizing analytes. In a particular embodiment, the system and methods are directed towards sample collection and stabilization with optional sample separation. Other embodiments can perform any combination of collection, separation, stabilization or detection.
