COMPUTER-IMPLEMENTED METHOD FOR PROVIDING AN OUTLINE OF A LESION IN DIGITAL BREAST TOMOSYNTHESIS
One or more example embodiments of the present invention relates to a computer-implemented method for providing an outline of a lesion in digital breast tomosynthesis includes receiving input data, wherein the input data comprises a reconstructed tomosynthesis volume dataset based on projection recordings, a virtual target marker within a lesion being in the tomosynthesis volume dataset; applying a trained function to at least a part of the tomosynthesis volume dataset to establish an outline enclosing the lesion, the part of the tomosynthesis volume dataset corresponding to a region surrounding the virtual target marker in the tomosynthesis volume dataset; and providing output data, wherein the output data is an outline of a two-dimensional area or a three-dimensional volume surrounding the target marker.
METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR DETERMINING ABNORMALITY IN MEDICAL DEVICE
A method for determining an abnormality in a medical device from a medical image is provided. The method for determining an abnormality in a medical device comprises receiving a medical image, and detecting information on at least a part of a target medical device included in the received medical image.
Apparatus and method for analyzer-based contrast imaging with a polychromatic beam
A method and system for detecting an image of an object in an analyzer-based system with a polychromatic x-ray beam from an x-ray source, wherein an analyzer crystal and a detector simultaneously acquire a rocking curve of the x-ray beam for all energies of the x-ray beam. The x-ray beam is diffracted through the object using an asymmetrical monochromator. A detector movement is synchronized with one of the x-ray source or the object. The synchronization includes moving the detector at a first rate that is different than a second rate of the object or the x-ray source, wherein a ratio between the first rate and the second rate is determined by the magnification of the system.
FLEXIBLE CAPACITIVE MICROMACHINED ULTRASONIC TRANSDUCER ARRAYS
An apparatus comprising an array of polymer-based capacitive micromachined ultrasonic transducers positioned on a substrate. The substrate may be at least substantially transparent to ionizing radiation, be flexible, and/or have walls positioned thereon to protect the transducers.
COMPOSITE IMPLANT MATERIAL
A prosthetic implant with improved properties, suitable for implantation to the human body, comprising a composite comprising a base material and a plurality of additives, wherein the additives are selected from radiolucent additives and/or hyperechoic additives; or wherein the additives are selected to reduce the solvent concentration by between 5%-95%; or wherein the additives are selected to increase the elastic modulus by more than 20%; or wherein the additives are selected for combining these effects.
BIOPSY SAMPLE CONTAINER
An apparatus for individually storing multiple tissue samples separately from each other includes a base, a lid, a lock, and one or more vents. The base defines a plurality of reservoirs and a plurality of identification areas. A portion of the base defines an opening corresponding to each reservoir. The lid is configured to secure the multiple tissue samples within a corresponding reservoir by enclosing each corresponding opening in the closed configuration. The lock is configured to selectively lock the lid against the base in the closed configuration. The one or more vents are configured to enable entry of fluid into the reservoirs when the lid is in the closed configuration. The one or more vents are further configured to prevent exit of tissue samples from the reservoirs when the lid is in the closed configuration.
Measuring breast density using breast computed technology
A device and methods for performing a simulated CT biopsy on a region of interest on a patient. The device comprises a gantry (22) configured to mount an x-ray emitter (24) and CT detector (26) on opposing sides of the gantry, a motor (28) rotatably coupled to the gantry such that the gantry rotates horizontally about the region of interest, and a high resolution x-ray detector (172) positioned adjacent the CT detector in between the CT detector and the x-ray emitter.
BREAST COMPUTED TOMOGRAPHY SYSTEM
The present invention provides a breast computed tomography system in which the body motion and the pain of an examinee during capturing of images of the breast are reduced. The breast computed tomography system includes a gantry accommodating a light emitting unit that radiates light onto the breast. The gantry includes a gripper having a right gripping portion and a left gripping portion.
Techniques for breast imaging patient motion artifact compensation
An imaging system may include an imaging detector to capture an image of human tissue and a compression paddle situated apart from the imaging detector to compress the human tissue between the compression paddle and the imaging detector. A force sensor may generate a force signal indicating a measure of force applied superior to the human tissue. A movement detection circuit may filter a movement signal from the force signal indicating a measure of movement of the compressed human tissue. A movement analysis module may determine that the movement signal is beyond a movement threshold. An image correction module to perform a corrective action based upon the determination that the movement signal is beyond a movement threshold.
X-RAY MAMMOGRAPHY AND/OR BREAST TOMOSYNTHESIS USING A COMPRESSION PADDLE WITH AN INFLATABLE JACKET ENHANCING IMAGING AND IMPROVING PATIENT COMFORT
A system and method using an inflatable jacket over the compression paddle of a mammography and/or tomosynthesis system to enhance imaging and improve patient comfort in x-ray breast imaging.
