MEDICAL ARTICLE FOR THE PROPHYLAXIS OF DECUBITUS ULCERS
The present invention relates to a medical article (10) for the prophylaxis of the formation and/or worsening of decubitus ulcers, containing a compress (12) and a skin contact layer (13), which skin contact layer can adhere to skin to be treated, wherein the compress (12) has a proximal surface and a distal surface and comprises a core (15) and a shell (14) surrounding the core (15); wherein the core (15) has a proximal surface and a distal surface and comprises a nonwoven material, which is composed of fibers and absorbent particles, wherein the compress (12) has a longitudinal direction having a first modulus of elasticity and a transverse direction having a second modulus of elasticity and the first modulus of elasticity is greater than the second modulus of elasticity.
DOUBLE COATING FOR WOUND DRESSINGS
A medical dressing is described that includes: a porous layer having a first side and a second side; a first coating extending along at least a portion of the surface area of said first side of said porous layer; a second coating extending along said first side of said porous layer, said second coating comprising a pattern of through openings; wherein said first coating extends along at least those portions of the surface area of said first side of said porous layer that coincide with the through openings of said second coating and wherein said first surface of said second coating extends in a plane (B) that is farther away, in the vertical direction, from the first side of said porous layer, than the corresponding plane (A) defined by the first surface of said first coating.
REDUCED-PRESSURE DRESSING ASSEMBLIES FOR USE IN APPLYING A CLOSING FORCE
A closing dressing bolster and assembly for use with a system for treating a linear wound on a patient includes a bolster body formed from a flexible closing bolster material having closing members that are operable to develop an inward closing force when the closing dressing bolster is placed under reduced pressure. In one aspect, when the closing dressing bolster is under reduced pressure, the system, dressing, or assembly develops an inward force realized at the linear wound and a compression force. A wicking-material holder and wicking material may be used as well. The member components may all be see-through to allow visual inspection of the wound without requiring removal of the dressing.
SELECTIVELY CONFIGURABLE WOUND DRESSING
A wound dressing is selectively configurable for use in a pressure gradient wound therapy system and for use without a pressure gradient wound therapy system. The wound dressing can include a covering layer, an aperture and a base plate. the base plate can be configured to sealingly receive a connector part.
Fiber materials with improved properties for use in wound treatment
Disclosed are materials comprising a fiber material and an agent having at least one having improved tensile strength, in particular wet tensile strength, vis-à-vis fiber materials known from the art. While these fiber materials may be of use in various fields, in particular household products, hygiene products and the like, these fiber materials are of particular use in wound treatment. Also disclosed is a method for producing these materials.
Vacuum assisted wound dressing
Apparatus for the application of topical negative pressure therapy to a wound site is described, the apparatus comprising: a wound contacting element for retaining wound exudate fluid therein; a wound covering element that provides a substantially airtight seal over the wound contacting element and wound site; a vacuum connection tube connecting a wound cavity to a vacuum source; and a vacuum source connected to a distal end of the vacuum connection tube.
A NEGATIVE PRESSURE WOUND THERAPY (NPWT) DRESSING
Described is a negative wound therapy (NPWT) dressing that includes a backing layer and an adhesive skin contact layer, the adhesive skin contact layer being configured to detachably adhere the dressing to a dermal surface, wherein the backing layer includes a coupling member. The coupling member includes a tubing configured to connect the dressing to a negative pressure source and to a remote fluid collector.
Wound dressings and systems with high-flow therapeutic gas sources for topical wound therapy and related methods
This disclosure includes wound dressings and systems with high-flow therapeutic gas sources for topical wound therapy and related methods. Some dressings, which are configured to be coupled to tissue to facilitate delivery of therapeutic gas to the tissue, comprise a manifold that defines a plurality of gas passageways, the manifold configured to allow communication of therapeutic gas to the tissue; and a gas-occlusive layer configured to be disposed over the manifold and coupled to the tissue such that an interior volume containing the manifold is defined between the gas-occlusive layer and the tissue and the gas-occlusive layer limits escape of therapeutic gas from the interior volume; wherein the gas-occlusive layer includes: a first opening configured to allow communication of therapeutic gas into the interior volume; and one or more second openings configured to allow communication of therapeutic gas out of the interior volume.
FLEXIBLE ABSORBENT BANDAGE
A bandage includes a top film, an absorbent layer and a perforated adhesive lower layer positioned under the absorbent layer for adhering the bandage to a user's skin. The absorbent layer includes at least one incision that improves the flexibility of the bandage.
Moisture sensing wound dressing
A wound dressing is disclosed, the wound dressing comprising a first adhesive layer with a proximal surface configured for attachment of the wound dressing to the skin surface of a user; an absorbent core layer; an electrode assembly comprising a plurality of electrodes arranged on a distal side of the absorbent core layer, the electrode assembly comprising a plurality of sensor points distributed along a distal surface of the absorbent core layer; and a top layer on a distal side of the electrode assembly.
