A tampon has a pair of longitudinally extending side edges and an absorbent member. The absorbent member has an insertion area, a withdrawal area, and an intermediate area between the insertion area and the withdrawal area and an attachment area. The absorbent material has a plurality of fiber integrated nonwoven layers but are without fiber integration adjacent layers outboard of the attachment area. A withdrawal line extends from the withdrawal area and is attached to the absorbent member in the attachment area such that each of the plurality of absorbent layers is attached to an adjacent nonwoven layer in the attachment area.

An endurance athlete's tampon that eliminates a traditional string and is simpler to manufacture includes a sheet of absorbent material with a bottom edge at whose midpoint there is a downward extending tab, and wherein this tampon is formed by folding it about its lateral centerline that extends upward from the tab so that the sheet's proximal and distal edges are placed proximate one another. This folded sheet is then rolled such that its lateral centerline and tab are at the center of the rolled sheet and its proximal and distal edges are on the outer surface of the rolled sheet. This tab is configured to enable it to be used to remove the tampon after it has been placed in service.

A tampon including a pledget, a wicking member and a withdrawal cord is disclosed. The pledget includes a mass of fibrous absorbent material disposed within or between one or more layers of an outer cover formed of a first nonwoven web material. The wicking member includes a second nonwoven web material distinct from the first nonwoven web material and the withdrawal cord. The wicking member is joined in direct contact with a surface of the pledget, and has a width less than the width of the pledget width.

An absorbent tampon is disclosed herein. The absorbent tampon strikes a balance between fluid distribution and expansion to reduce the likelihood of kinetic leakage and bypass leakage. The tampons have a fluid kinetic value “FKV” and a dynamic expansion value which are associated with their respective Syngyna ratings.
