SANITARY PRODUCT CARRYING LACTOFERRIN
Provided is a method for preventing the disturbance of vaginal bacterial flora during the menstrual period and improving the vaginal bacterial flora. One aspect of the present invention is a sanitary product carrying lactoferrin or a composition comprising lactoferrin and an auxiliary substance. Also provided is a kit comprising a sanitary product, and lactoferrin or the composition comprising lactoferrin and an auxiliary substance.
VAGINAL FLUID ABSORPTION AND ODOR REDUCTION
A device includes a shell including a proximal end and a distal end of the shell. The device also includes a plunger within the shell. The plunger can include a flexible stop at a proximal end of the plunger and a distal end. The device can further include an absorptive unit configured to absorb fluid within a vaginal cavity. The absorptive unit can be affixed to the distal end of the plunger. The absorptive unit can include an absorptive element affixed to a frame structure configurable to reversibly transition between a compressed and uncompressed configuration. The absorptive unit can also include a tether coupled to the absorptive unit via the frame structure. The tether can extend through the proximal end of the plunger. Related methods of use are also described.
ABSORBENT INTIMATE HYGIENE PRODUCT FOR PREVENTING AND TREATING INFECTION
Devices according to the invention use a metal-based material having antimicrobial, biocidal, bactericidal, virucidal and/or fungicidal effect. Metals having antimicrobial properties can be toxic to microorganisms of interest (microbes), such as bacteria and/or fungi.
Device and methods for treating urothelial conditions
A disposable device for treating a condition of a ureter or kidney having a cylindrical body about 1-2 mm in diameter by about 5 to 10 mm in length and having a top and bottom end. The body is made of absorbent material that expands upon contact with pharmaceutical agent and bodily fluids and includes a string connected to the bottom end of the body for removing the device. The device can be used to treat a condition of the ureter or kidney by inserting into the ureter or kidney, delivering a pharmaceutical agent, and removing the device after it has been impregnated with fluid. The device can be included in a kit with an insertion device and/or appropriate pharmaceutical agents.
UTERINE HEMOSTASIS DEVICE AND RELATED METHODS OF USE
Uterine hemostasis devices and related methods are generally described. In some embodiments, a uterine hemostasis device may include a pouch enclosing one or more fluid absorbing bodies for treatment of postpartum hemorrhage. The pouch may be delivered to a patient's uterus, whereby the fluid absorbing bodies may absorb uterine fluids (e.g., blood) and expand to apply pressure to the uterine walls. Following hemostasis of the uterus, the pouch may be extracted with retrieval tethers accessible from the patient's vagina or vaginal opening. In some embodiments, the pouch may be compressed prior to extraction, such that it may pass through the cervical canal more easily. In some embodiments, the pouch may enclose one or more pouches, such that the fluid absorbing bodies may be extracted in batches to facilitate removal. The pouch may be delivered with a syringe-like applicator positioned in the cervical canal.
ODOR/TOXIN-ABSORBING SANITARY PADS, PANTY LINERS, AND TAMPONS
An odor and menses absorption device includes a user contact layer and at least one adjoining super absorbent core layer. Fluid can move from the user contact layer to the super absorbent core layer. The user contact layer contains a blend of polylactic acid fiber and bamboo charcoal fiber and acts as a barrier to fluids with a surface tension greater than 30 dynes.
Ready-to-use, hydrophilic, self-dispersive, fragmentable and biodegradable porous sponge matrix and a method of manufacturing thereof
The invention relates to porous absorbent Composite Material, which may be used e.g. in the form of a plug or tampon, for instance for controlling bleeding, wound closure, prevent tissue adhesion and/or support tissue regeneration. The invention provides a hydrophilic Self-Dispersive, fragmentable and Bio-Absorbable Porous Composite foams, suitable for packing antrum or other cavities of the body, comprising of composite of polymers, which polymer preferably comprises —C(O)—O—; NH2/3+; —OH; —CH2OCH2C(O)O— groups as functional or —CH—O— (e.g. C2H4O; C6H10O5; C6H8O6); —CH—N—O— (e.g. C8H13NO5); O—C—C— (e.g. O—CH2-CH2); —C(O)N— groups in the backbone of the polymers e.g. gelatin, chitosan, collagen, alginate, polyvinyl alcohol, polyethylene glycol, keratin, cellulose.
ANTIMICROBIAL AND ANTIVIRAL HYGIENIC PRODUCTS
The present invention relates to hygienic products such as sanitary pads and tampons, patient/adult diapers and baby diapers which are made antimicrobial. In the present invention, a mixture of glucopon, chlorhexidine gluconate and triclosan is obtained from the boron compounds called sodium borate, zinc borate, sodium perborate tetrahydrate, borax pentahydrate and disodium octaborate tetrahydrate; and this mixture provides antifungal, anticandidal, antibacterial and antiviral properties to the woven or non-woven textile products and hygienic products. Additionally, the said hygienic products are made hydrophilic by means of the invention.
VAGINAL DETECTION METHODS AND KITS USING A TAMPON
The present invention relates to methods of obtaining a biological sample from the vagina and detecting various conditions (e.g., detecting a sexually transmitted infection, determining the composition of the vaginal microbiome, and detecting dysbiosis) using a tampon. The present invention also relates to kits containing a tampon for use in such methods.
DRUG DELIVERY AND ADMINISTRATION DEVICE
A device for the delivery and/or application of a therapeutic composition in a delivery form into the rectal and/or vaginal cavity, the device includes an externally wearable pad; a non-absorbent platform for receiving the delivery form of therapeutic composition; and a sheath joining the platform to the pad such that a user's finger can be received in the sheath.
