An absorbent article for wearing about the lower torso of a wearer includes a first waist region having a first waist edge, a second waist region having a second waist edge, and a crotch region disposed between the first and second waist regions. The article further includes a chassis having a topsheet, a backsheet, and an absorbent core disposed between the topsheet and backsheet. A waist gasketing element is joined to the chassis and disposed in one of the first waist region or the second waist region. The waist gasketing element has a top layer and a bottom layer, and first area, A1. The top layer is bonded to the bottom layer in a closure bond region by a closure bonding technique. The closure bond region has an aggregate closure bond area, BA, which is less than 60% of the first area, A1.

A disposable absorbent underwear product includes a garment layer, an absorbent insert, a non-woven patch, and a barrier. The absorbent insert has a fluid-impermeable base layer, an absorbent core, and a fluid-permeable top layer. The non-woven patch covers an end of the absorbent insert. A first portion of the non-woven patch is adhered to both the fluid-permeable top layer of the absorbent insert and the garment layer with an adhesive. A second portion of the non-woven patch is free and forms a pouch. An end portion of the absorbent core is disposed adjacent to the second portion of the non-woven patch. The barrier extends along a width of the absorbent insert. The barrier extends through the fluid-permeable top layer of the absorbent core and connects the fluid-impermeable base layer and the one non-woven patch to direct fluid flow to the absorbent core and militate against fluid overflow.

A disposable absorbent underwear product includes a garment layer, an absorbent insert, a non-woven patch, and a barrier. The absorbent insert has a fluid-impermeable base layer, an absorbent core, and a fluid-permeable top layer. The non-woven patch covers an end of the absorbent insert. A first portion of the non-woven patch is adhered to both the fluid-permeable top layer of the absorbent insert and the garment layer with an adhesive. An article including a front region, a back region, and a chassis. The chassis may include an absorbent core having a front end edge and a back end edge. The front region and the back region may extend laterally outward beyond side edges of the chassis. The front region and the back region may abut to form a first seam and a second seam. At least one of the front region and the back region may include an elastic member. A first outer nonwoven layer of the front region and a second outer nonwoven layer of the back region may be folded to form an upper edge in the front and back regions such that a distal end of each of the first and second outer nonwoven layer may be disposed between the upper edge and the front and back end edges of the absorbent core, respectively.

An attachable-type disposable wearing article including waist elastic members fixed to an end flap, standup gather parts located on opposed widthwise sides, a linear first bending part extending in the width direction from a front edge of one of the back laid-down portions to a front edge of the other, and a linear second bending part extending in the width direction and spaced forwardly apart from the first bending part, a first area adjacent backward to the first bending part and a second area between the first and second bending parts, the waist stretchable region is provided at least between the opposed right and left back laid-down portions, and the first bending part has lower rigidity compared to the first area and the second area.

An absorbent product includes a nonwoven material arranged to be in contact with skin of a user during use of the absorbent product. The nonwoven material includes, at least on a skin contacting surface, a mixture of non-absorbent and absorbent fibres. The absorbent fibres are present in an amount of 2-30% by weight, or about 2-10% by weight, based on the total weight of the fibres in the nonwoven material. The non-absorbent fibres have a coarseness of 1.8 to 10 dtex and the absorbent fibres have a coarseness of 1 to 10. Also disclosed is a use of a nonwoven material in an absorbent product to reduce wet friction between the nonwoven and skin of a user.

Methods of forming front and back waist gasketing elements on an absorbent article are provided. The methods include the steps of providing a web of chassis material and waist gasketing elements, each having a first transverse edge, a second transverse edge, a top and bottom layer. The methods further include bonding the top and bottom layers in closure bond regions, and joining the waist gasketing elements to the chassis to form a strip of final articles. The methods include dividing the strip of final articles between the first and second transverse edges such that a cut separates two final articles, a leading article and a trailing article, wherein each cut is disposed within a closure bond region, forms a back waist edge of the leading article and a front waist edge of the trailing article; and forms an outboard lateral edge of a back waist gasketing element on the leading article and an outboard lateral edge of a front waist gasketing element on the trailing article.

The first pocket is formed by the one or more waist guard sheets, and the second pocket is at least partially provided between the topsheet and the first pocket.

The invention relates to an absorbent article with a waist guard disposed in the back waist region such that at least a first pocket is formed. The waist guard comprises a waist guard sheet having at least three fold lines extending substantially parallel to the transverse centerline of the absorbent article. The waist guard sheet further has at least a first, second, third and fourth portion. The first pocket comprises at least a first elastic portion provided along and/or adjacent to the first fold line.

The present invention relates to an absorbent article with a waist guard disposed in the back waist region such that at least a first pocket is formed. The waist guard is formed of at least a first waist guard sheet and a second waist guard sheet. Each of the first and second waist guard sheet forms a portion of the first pocket. The first waist guard sheet is different from the second waist guard sheet, the difference being selected from the group consisting of basis weight, air permeability, caliper, Low Surface Tension Fluid Strikethrough Time, Opacity, and combinations thereof.
