The present disclosure is related to systems and methods for orthosis design. The method includes obtaining a three-dimensional (3D) model associated with a subject. The method includes obtaining one or more reference images associated with the subject. The method includes determining, based on the 3D model and the one or more reference images, orthosis design data for the subject. The orthosis design data may be used to determine an orthosis for the subject.

Method for connecting at least two structural parts of an orthopedic component and orthopedic component having at least two structural parts

A method for connecting at least two structural parts of an orthopedic component, wherein the structural parts are retained in an orienting device while oriented in relation to each other, and an intermediate space thus being formed between the structural parts. The orienting device and the structural parts together form a cavity, which has a flow connection to at least one feed connection, via which an adhesive for adhesively bonding the structural parts is introduced into the cavity.

Modular Prosthetic Sockets and Method for Making Same

A prosthetic socket for a residual limb of the lower extremity or upper extremity of an individual person is provided. The residual limb has particular dimensions and anatomical contours; the prosthetic socket has dimensions and contours that fit the dimensions and contours of the residual limb. The prosthetic socket may also fit in a manner that is biomechanically appropriate for the individual. The prosthetic socket may be an assembly from groups of components that include (a) struts arranged longitudinally with respect to the residual limb, (b) proximal brim members arranged proximally to the struts and connected thereto; and (c) distal socket members disposed at the distal base of the prosthetic socket. The socket components within these groups may be modular in that they can vary with respect to dimensions and/or contours, and yet have common connecting features that permit assembly of the components together to form the prosthetic socket.

A unibody transtibial prosthetic device includes a socket personalized for a specific patient’s residual limb. A pylon extends from the socket, the pylon being a unitary polymer structure of interconnected elongated supports having open spaces therebetween. The device also includes a foot-ankle complex, the foot-ankle complex being a unitary polymer extending from the pylon, the foot and ankle unitary structure being shaped to provide multi-axial dynamic flex to enable dorsiflexion, plantar flexion, inversion and eversion motion for smooth symmetric gait performance and energy capture and return. The socket, pylon and foot-ankle complex are portions of a unibody.

Knit Prosthetic Liner Textile With Differentiated Knit Fabric Exterior Incorporating Low-Extensibility Strips
20230210676 · 2023-07-06 ·

A prosthetic liner having a lower longitudinal stretch in the distal region than in either the proximal or optional intermediate region. The distal region may stretch anywhere from 0-30% vertically and 10-200% horizontally as compared to the proximal region's vertical stretch of 55-125% and 100-175% horizontally. The stretch of the liner at various pressure sensitive regions of a residual limb can also be lowered or heightened depending on the area. A variety of stitches may be used at the distal end to implement this lowered longitudinal stretch. Preferably, the liner is made of a stretchable material. The liner also has an interior layer of elastomer gel. The design of this prosthetic liner is primarily to prevent the “pistoning” of the amputee's residual limb within the liner and for comfort over pressure-sensitive areas of the residual limb. The liner also includes the use of a low extensibility material which is adhered to the fabric portion of a prosthetic liner or orthotic liner either internally or externally and limits the longitudinal movement while allowing for transversal movement. The customizable nature of the invention allows for shaping and personalization depending on the needs of the user.

FLEXIBLE INNER SOCKET FOR PROVIDING INNER CIRCUMFERENCE REDUCTION TO RIGID PROSTHETIC SOCKET
20220409406 · 2022-12-29 ·

A flexible prosthetic inner socket that resides inside of a rigid prosthetic socket that is fabricated by forming a sized, injection molded, flexible inner pre-socket. The flexible inner pre-socket includes a body formed with an opening and an enclosed end. The Pre-socket can be heated and stretched over a prosthetic residual limb model and then a prosthetic rigid socket can be formed over it. It can also be heated and vacuum-formed inside of an existing hard prosthetic socket in order to provide global volume reduction intended to make the rigid prosthetic socket fit tighter onto the residual limb. The opening of the flexible inner socket may be trimmed after the formation to fit contours of an opening of the rigid prosthetic socket.

Verfahren, Vorrichtung und Computerprogramm zum Erstellen von Fertigungsdaten für ein orthopädietechnisches Produkt
20220401149 · 2022-12-22 ·

The invention relates to a method for creating manufacturing data for manufacturing an orthopedic product for a body part of a patient, the method comprising the following steps: providing a digital three-dimensional body part model of the relevant body part for which the orthopedic product is destined to an electronic data processing apparatus, the three-dimensional body part model being based on external body part data acquired from the body part of the patient; identifying at least one rigid body part region in the provided body part model by means of the electronic data processing apparatus, with the remaining region situated outside of the rigid body part region being identified as a yielding body part region on the basis of the identified rigid body part region; creating a reduced three-dimensional body part model by means of the electronic data processing apparatus on the basis of the provided three-dimensional body part model, the identified rigid body part regions and a reduction metric applied in the region of the yielding body part region; and producing manufacturing data for the orthopedic product on the basis of the reduced three-dimensional body part model by means of the electronic data processing apparatus.

PROSTHETIC LIMB SOCKETS AND METHODS OF MAKING AND USING

A prosthetic socket includes a conical cup, an outer layer on the outer surface of the conical cup, and a reinforcement layer on the inner surface of the conical cup. The prosthetic socket is shapeable after being heated to a shaping temperature. The outer layer is less malleable than the conical cup at the shaping temperature but has a higher rigidity than the conical cup at the shaping temperature and has smoother outer surface than an outer surface of the conical cup. The reinforcement layer has a higher resistance against circumferential stress than the conical cup. A residual limb or a model of a residual limb can be inserted into the preformed prosthetic socket. The prosthetic socket is then heated to the shaping temperature and molded to conform to the contour of the residual limb or the model to form a prosthetic socket.
