A protective dressing includes an outer dressing and an adhesive layer. The outer dressing includes an opening and a cavity sized to receive a phase-change material (PCM) insert inserted through the opening. The adhesive layer is configured to adhere to a patient's skin surrounding an anatomic site. When adhered to the patient's skin, the PCM insert modifies the patient's skin at the anatomic site. The PCM insert may be removed and replaced with another PCM insert. For example, a warm PCM insert may be replaced with a refrigerated PCM insert. The opening of the outer dressing may be self-sealing. The opening of the outer dressing may be sealed with an upper layer dressing coupled to the PCM cooling insert.
Flexible adhesive physio tape with thermal properties
A flexible adhesive kinesiology/physio tape adapted to produce heat from the exothermic oxidation when exposed to air. The inventive tape includes a layer of porous material with iron and salt disposed therein. In the best mode, the layer is flexible and self-adhesive. A layer of plastic is included to inhibit oxidation prior to application and use. In a preferred embodiment, the inventive flexible adhesive tape includes a first layer of flexible adhesive high quality porous fabric; a second layer of flexible adhesive high quality porous fabric; and the layer of flexible exothermic material, sandwiched between the first and second layers. The third layer can be fabricated with cellulose, iron, water, activated carbon, vermiculite and salt or fabricated with a mixture of chemical salt in dry crystal form with water. Or any other chemical mixture that creates an exothermic reaction.
COLD AND HOT COMPRESS PACK AND MANUFACTURING METHOD THEREFOR, AND COLD AND HOT COMPRESS CIRCULATION SYSTEM
A cold and hot compress pack includes a first sheet (110), a second sheet (120), a third sheet (130), a first weld seam (210), a second weld seam (220), a gas port (310) and at least two liquid ports (320). The first sheet (110), the second sheet (120) and the third sheet (130) are sequentially stacked one above another. The first weld seam (210) joins the first sheet (110), the second sheet (120) and the third sheet (130) at a same planimetric position. The second weld seam (220) surrounds the first sheet (110), the second sheet (120) and the third sheet (130) and joins them together at a same planimetric position. The second weld seam (220) is joined to one end of the first weld seam (210), thereby forming a first cavity (141) between the first sheet (110) and the second sheet (120) and a second cavity (142) between the second sheet (120) and the third sheet (130). The gas port (310) is arranged between any two of the liquid ports (320) so as to be spaced apart from both. The at least two liquid ports (320) are in communication with the second cavity (142), and the gas port (310) is in communication with the first cavity (141). An end of the first weld seam (210) joined to the second weld seam (220) extends between the gas port (310) and any one of the liquid ports (320) while being spaced apart from both. Also disclosed are a corresponding manufacturing method and a cold and hot compress circulation system.
WOUND AND THERAPY COMPRESS AND DRESSING
A method of providing moisture therapy to a subject by applying a moist therapy compress against a treated body portion. The moist therapy compress includes a fluid-permeable shell, a flexible backing fastened to the shell to define an enclosure, and a hydrophilic zeolite fill granules loosely contained within the enclosure. The therapy compress is exposed to a source of moisture to cause absorption of water into the hydrophilic zeolite, and the moisture is delivered from the hydrophilic zeolite through the fluid permeable shell to the treated body portion.
Dry eye treatment apparatus and methods
Dry eye treatment apparatus and methods are described herein which generally includes a patch or strip affixed to the skin of the upper and/or lower eyelids to deliver heat or other forms of energy, pressure, drugs, moisture, etc. (alone or in combination) to the one or more meibomian glands contained within the underlying skin. The treatment strip or strips include one or more strips configured to adhere to an underlying region of skin in proximity to one or both eyes of a subject such that the one or more strips allow for the subject to blink naturally without restriction from the one or more strips. Moreover, the one or more strips may be configured to emit energy to the underlying region of skin and where the one or more strips are shaped to follow a location of one or more meibomiam glands contained within the underlying region of skin.
WOUND DRESSING
A wound dressing includes a substrate, an insulating layer, at least one ion sustainable-released body, and at least one electrode. The insulating layer is disposed on the substrate, with the at least one ion sustainable-released body being uniformly disposed at the insulating layer. The ion sustainable-released body includes ions. The electrode is disposed on the insulating layer, and the electrode and the ions are functioned as an electron donor and an electron acceptor respectively.
Modular physio tape with thermal properties
A modular kinesiology or physio tape adapted to produce heating or cooling. The tape includes a layer of material having a chamber for retention and release of a removable packet of cooling or heating material and a mechanism for securing the layer directly onto skin of a user. The removable packet of cooling or heating material has dimensions optimized for manual insertion into and removal from the chamber. Preferably, the material is flexible and includes an adhesive for securing the layer to the skin. The material has a first surface for contacting skin, a second surface parallel to the first surface for receiving and retaining the removable packet and an edge between the first and second surfaces. In one embodiment, multiple slits are provided in the second surface having dimensions adapted to receive and retain said packet. In yet another embodiment, a heating packet is implemented with a button/coin type battery circuit with an optional mechanism for controlling the generation of heat thereby.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR LIGHT DEACTIVATION AND REMOVAL OF LIGHT DEACTIVATED ADHESIVE DRAPES
Provided herein is a system and method for mitigating premature light deactivation of light deactivated adhesive drapes. One aspect provides a system comprising a drape, a photosensitive adhesive layer, a release agent, and an optical fiber mesh layer configured as a light pipe, where the system is adapted to be coupled to a tissue site and released therefrom upon or after exposure to an external stimulus such as certain wavelengths of light. Another aspect includes a pipe light pipe, as an alternative to the optical fiber mesh layer. The systems may have a removable blocking layer to prevent the photosensitive adhesive from being exposed to deactivation wavelengths prematurely. Another aspect provides a method for application and removal of a drape using the light pipe to transport or route light to the drape to deactivate the photosensitive adhesive layer and promote easy, clean, and less painful removal of the drape.
HEMOSTASIS PROMOTING METHOD AND HEMOSTASIS ASSISTING TOOL
A hemostasis promoting method and a hemostasis assisting tool are capable of promoting hemostasis on a puncture site. The hemostasis promoting method is a method of promoting hemostasis on a puncture site formed in a radial artery among the radial artery and an ulnar artery that are branched from a brachial artery in an arm and that extend parallel to each other. The hemostasis promoting method makes a temperature of a body surface around the radial artery higher than a temperature of a body surface around the ulnar artery such that the temperature of the radial artery will be higher than the temperature of the ulnar artery.
