Described herein is an absorbent article. The absorbent article includes an assembly of components and an adhesive composition joining at least two of the assembly of components together. The adhesive composition includes from about 50 wt. % to about 80 wt. % of one or more copolymers and a blend of one or more heterophase copolymers. The one or more copolymers include from about 30 mole % to about 70 mole % of monomer units selected from ethylene. 1-butene, and mixtures thereof. The one or more copolymers also include from about 30 mole % to about 70 mole % of propene monomer units. The adhesive composition is free of polyisobutylene and has a viscosity of from about 2,000 mPa.Math.s to about 11,500 mPa.Math.s at 150° C.

The outer cover layer is formed by a muti-fiber layer nonwoven having a basis weight from about 16gsm to about 35gsm and comprising a garment facing layer and a wearer facing layer. The garment facing layer comprises fibers having a diameter of about 11 .Math.m or less, or from about 7 .Math.m to about 11 .Math.m, and the wearer facing layer comprises fibers having a diameter of about 13 .Math.m or more, or from about 13 .Math.m to about 24 .Math.m. A weight ratio of the garment facing layer is from about 20% to about 70% of the multi-fiber layer nonwoven.

Methods of forming front and back waist gasketing elements on an absorbent article are provided. The methods include the steps of providing a web of chassis material and waist gasketing elements, each having a first transverse edge, a second transverse edge, a top and bottom layer. The methods further include bonding the top and bottom layers in closure bond regions, and joining the waist gasketing elements to the chassis to form a strip of final articles. The methods include dividing the strip of final articles between the first and second transverse edges such that a cut separates two final articles, a leading article and a trailing article, wherein each cut is disposed within a closure bond region, forms a back waist edge of the leading article and a front waist edge of the trailing article; and forms an outboard lateral edge of a back waist gasketing element on the leading article and an outboard lateral edge of a front waist gasketing element on the trailing article.
