11628108 · 2023-04-18 · ·

Systems and methods of wheelchair systems herein provide a wheelchair capable of providing a brace system that moves between retracted and deployed positions to provide a physical support to the legs of the user to assist the user in transition between a plurality of user positions. Embodiments determine a user request for such assistance and then either deploys and/or retracts the brace system. Embodiments provide for assistance independent of additional people, such as aides, to assist the user in moving or transitioning between the plurality of user positions while also allowing or permitting the wheelchair to function normally when the brace system is in the retracted position.

SHOE WITH INTEGRALLY CONNECTED SLEEVE

An athletic shoe with a legging sleeve connected thereto. The athletic shoe may take any of a variety of high-performance shoes known in the art, such as tennis shoes, basketball shoes, and the like. The legging sleeve component is integrally connected as part of the shoe and is extensible over the calf, knees and thigh of the wearer and operative to form a compressive fit thereabout. Integrated as part of such legging sleeve may include pockets, channels and pouches for receiving brace structures, support devices, protective coverings and a variety of other implements to facilitate movement, support and promote proper form when playing sports. Such device may further include integration with sensors so as to monitor physical activity, or measurement of a variety of other physiological parameters for use in a variety of applications.

A dual-adjustable orthotic device to treat clubfoot and methods for using same. The device comprises a pair of paddles, adapted to attach footwear, attached at opposing ends of an adjustable torque bar the device has independent configuration systems to adjust the angle at which the paddles are oriented to the bar, and to adjust the torque loading applied to the paddles. These systems facilitate the independent adjustment of the device settings without changing the tensioning mechanism, stocking multiple devices, or having to disassemble and reassemble the tensioning structures.

Methods and devices for supporting a patient's leg to increase comfort and assist in recovery

The present disclosure relates to a support system for patients recovering from medical procedures, including from total knee replacement surgery. The disclosed system may include a foot support unit which supports a patient's feet, where the foot support may have leg grooves separated by a divider and a tapered height. The foot support may be placed in a patient's bed. Additionally hip support wedges may be placed beneath a patient's hip, where the hip supports provide the benefit of counteracting a leg's natural tendency to rotate outwards. The disclosed foot support and hip wedges promote proper alignment and in that way provide comfort and assist in recovery.

DYNAMIC FOOT ABDUCTION BAR

A dynamic foot abduction bar for use with a pair of boots having a crossbar and a pair of generally L-shaped components. The generally L-shaped components are slidingly attached at either end of the crossbar, thereby allowing axial translation. The pair of boots are releasably attachable to the generally L-shaped components. The dynamic foot abduction bar may include a modified ball joint attached between the generally L-shaped component and the crossbar. The modified ball joint may be configured for upward coronal rotation, outward axial rotation and sagittal rotation.

DEVICE FOR REHABILITATION OF CHILDREN WITH CHILDHOOD CEREBRAL PALSY (CCP)
20210196498 · 2021-07-01 ·

The device for rehabilitation of children with childhood cerebral palsy (CCP) comprises a sleeve/tube (1) made of an elastic material and cuffs made of Velcro strips (2). A frequently occurring problem during rehabilitation of children suffering from CCP is their wrong posture while sitting on the floor. The patients find this position is very comfortable since it provides good stability. However, this results in both wrong position of joints and wrong muscle function being developed, in particular body movement and balance are maintained by means of support on the inside on the foot with the knee being turned inwards. An inverted “knee inward” leg position becomes fixated. The feet become twisted with the big toes pointing outwards, which enhances undesirable changes in the function of the knee and hip joints. The above-mentioned factors reduce the effectiveness of rehabilitation carried out by traditional methods. The proposed device for rehabilitation of children with CCP makes it possible to rectify the aforementioned disadvantages without significantly restricting the patients' mobility. The device is fitted onto the feet of the patient and fixed at the ankles by the cuffs made of Velcro strips (2). The device fixed in this manner on the feet of the patient can stretch with movement. The effect of the device is observed already after a few first months of the use thereof.

Device for preventing and treating foot and leg ulcers

A device is configured to treat ulcers/chronic wounds. First, and intermediate insoles are constructed from including the semi-compressed felt. A third sole serving as the base of the device is made constructed from including Ethylene Vinyl Acetate EVA. A cavity with beveled edge in the first insole is configured to over-lap the chronic wounds or ulcerations. The cavity channels the drainage or extrude from the ulcerations to the intermediate insole where it is absorbed.

Using Sensors To Detect Movement And Use Of Braces

A brace that includes a body and a sensor device disposed in the body, where the sensor device includes a sensor that is configured to measure at least one parameter associated with a position of the housing. The brace also includes a controller communicably coupled to the sensor device. The controller can be configured to receive a plurality of measurements of the at least one parameter taken by the sensor device. The controller can also be configured to evaluate each measurement of the plurality of measurements.
