A restraint system includes a restraint assembly and an anchor to releasably mount the restraint assembly to a component. The restraint assembly includes a tether and a cuff coupled to the tether. In addition, the restraint assembly includes a frangible cover operable to hold the tether and the cuff in a compact, stowed configuration and is sufficiently frangible to allow a person to tear open the cover. The tether is coupled to the anchor and when the cover is opened, the tether and the cuff are operable to be deployed from their stowed configuration, and the cuff extended from the anchor.

A harness assembly for use with a patient transport apparatus is provided. The harness assembly includes a strap for securing a patient to the patient transport apparatus. The harness assembly also includes a guard configured for removable attachment to the strap, the guard including a base, a keeper, and a retainer. The base defines a channel arranged to receive the strap. The keeper is arranged for movement relative to the base between a released position to permit movement of the strap along the channel of the base, and a secured position to restrict movement of the strap out of the channel. The retainer is coupled between the base and the keeper and is operable between an engaged configuration to retain the keeper in the secured position, and a disengaged configuration to permit movement of the keeper between the secured position and the released position.

A trunk control system having a harness assembly and a flexion control assembly. The harness assembly has a backrest member and a harness secured to the backrest member. The backrest member is configured to be moveably coupled to a wheelchair. The backrest member is selectively moveable about and between a fully retracted position and a fully extended position. The harness cooperates with the backrest member to define a receiving space for receiving at least a portion of a torso of a wheelchair user. The flexion control assembly is coupled to the backrest member of the harness assembly. The flexion control assembly is configured to selectively permit or restrict movement of the backrest member about and between the fully retracted position and the fully extended position.

The connecting rod may be adapted to receive a quick release fastener or threaded through fastener to secure the restraint ring to the connecting rod. The base may be seated in the sidewall if the rod is pierced through the bed or comprise a flange to bear on the bed. The base is adapted to releasably receive the quick release fastener thereby attaching the restraint ring to the base.

A second connector is coupled to the connection region of the second lower strap, and is configured to releasably attach to the first connector to at least partially limit movement of the first lower strap relative to the second lower strap. The connection region defines a connection width, and the thigh region defines a thigh width larger than the connection width.
