CONFORMABLE THERAPEUTIC SHIELD FOR VISION AND PAIN
A conformable covering comprises an outer portion with rigidity to resist movement on the cornea and an inner portion to contact the cornea and provide an environment for epithelial regeneration. The inner portion of the covering can be configured in many ways so as to conform at least partially to an ablated stromal surface so as to correct vision. The conformable inner portion may have at least some rigidity so as to smooth the epithelium such that the epithelium regenerates rapidly and is guided with the covering so as to form a smooth layer for vision. The inner portion may comprise an amount of rigidity within a range from about 1×10−4 Pa*m3 to about 5×10−4 Pa*m3 so as to deflect and conform at least partially to the ablated cornea and smooth an inner portion of the ablation with an amount of pressure when deflected.
MACHINE-READABLE MEDIUM, KERATOTOMY SYSTEM, AND KERATOTOMY METHOD
A corneal ablation system for correcting vision by using a laser is provided. The corneal ablation system includes: an operation device for creating an integrated corneal ablation plan for correcting a shape and a curvature error of a cornea based on corneal status data; a laser control unit for controlling a laser module according to an ablation position and an ablation shape of the cornea based on the integrated corneal ablation plan transmitted from the operation device; and the laser module for generating a laser and transmitting the laser to an optical unit under control of the laser control unit.
Device and method for vitreous humor surgery
A device and a method for the femtosecond laser surgery of tissue, especially in the vitreous humor of the eye. The device includes an ultrashort pulse laser with pulse widths in the range of approximately 10 fs-1 ps, especially approximately 300 fs, pulse energies in the range of approximately 5 nJ-5 μJ, especially approximately 1-2 μJ and pulse repetition rates of approximately 10 kHz-10 MHz, especially 500 kHz. The laser system is coupled to a scanner system which allows the spatial variation of the focus in three dimensions (x, y and z). In addition to the therapeutic laser/scanner optical system, the device includes a navigation system.
Systems and methods for combined femto-phaco cataract surgery
Devices to perform femtolaser ablation and phacoemulsification are physically and/or operationally combined. In some embodiments the femtolaser ablation and phacoemulsification are housed together, and in other embodiments they are housed separately, but operated through a common display screen. At least some software can be shared by the femtolaser ablation and phacoemulsification functionalities. A non-transitory computer-readable memory can provide data that can be used to operate each of at least one femtolaser ablation functionality and at least one phacoemulsification functionality.
COMBINATION TREATMENT USING PHACO AND ELT
A method of treating a subject having one or more eye conditions comprises applying phacoemulsification ultrasound to a subject having one or more eye conditions; and applying an excimer laser to the subject to preventatively treat glaucoma. A system for treatment of one or more eye conditions in a subject comprises a phacoemulsification ultrasound system and an excimer laser system. The phaco system comprises an ultrasound probe for treating cataracts in the subject. The excimer laser system comprises an excimer laser and a fiber probe that applies pulsed shots of energy from the excimer laser to the eye to prophylactically treat glaucoma.
Image guidance methods and apparatus for glaucoma surgery
An imaging probe comprises a camera or endoscope with an external detector array, in which the probe is sized and shaped for surgical placement in an eye to image the eye from an interior of the eye during treatment. The imaging probe and a treatment probe can be coupled together with a fastener or contained within a housing. The imaging probe and the treatment probe can be sized and shaped to enter the eye through an incision in the cornea and image one or more of the ciliary body band or the scleral spur. The treatment probe may comprise a treatment optical fiber or a surgical placement device to deliver an implant. A processor coupled to the detector can be configured with instructions to identify a location of one or more of the ciliary body band, the scleral spur, Schwalbe's line, or Schlemm's canal from the image.
PATIENT INTERFACES FOR COOLING EYE TISSUE
A patient interface for an ophthalmic laser system includes an interface portion and an attachment portion. The interface portion includes a transmissive portion and an interface wall. The transmissive portion allows a laser beam through to the cornea of an eye to perform an ophthalmic procedure. The interface wall is disposed outwardly from the transmissive portion. The attachment portion couples the interface portion to a region of the cornea to allow the laser beam through to the cornea to perform the ophthalmic procedure. The attachment portion also decreases the temperature of the region during the ophthalmic procedure.
METHOD FOR CONTROLLING AN OPTHALMOLOGICAL LASER AND TREATMENT APPARATUS
The invention relates to a method for controlling an ophthalmological laser (12) of a treatment apparatus (10) for the treatment of a human or animal eye (16), comprising controlling the laser (12) by means of a control device (18) of the treatment apparatus (10) such that it emits pulsed laser pulses (20) in a shot sequence in a preset pattern into the eye (16), wherein the individual laser pulses interact with a tissue (14) of the eye for the treatment of the eye (16), wherein a space-filling curve is preset for the pattern for treating the tissue (14).
LASER EYE SURGERY SYSTEM
An imaging system includes an eye interface device, a scanning assembly, a beam source, a free-floating mechanism, and a detection assembly. The eye interface device interfaces with an eye. The scanning assembly supports the eye interface device and scans a focal point of an electromagnetic radiation beam within the eye. The beam source generates the electromagnetic radiation beam. The free-floating mechanism supports the scanning assembly and accommodates movement of the eye and provides a variable optical path for the electronic radiation beam and a portion of the electronic radiation beam reflected from the focal point location. The variable optical path is disposed between the beam source and the scanner and has an optical path length that varies to accommodate movement of the eye. The detection assembly generates a signal indicative of intensity of a portion of the electromagnetic radiation beam reflected from the focal point location.
