Method and system for tilting an infant-care medical device
A method and system tilts an infant-care medical device. In one example, the method and system pivots the infant-care device about the tilt axis by releasing a tilt platform of the infant-care medical device using an actuator to allow the tilt platform to pivot about the tilt axis. The method and system also selectively adjusts a rotational position of the tilt platform relative to a tilt axis. As the tilt platform pivots about the tilt axis, the system and method dampens pivoting of tilt platform using a damper. As so dampened, the pivoting of the tilt platform is counter-balanced such that vibration and/or movements that may be felt by an infant within the infant-care medical device may be reduced.
Thermotherapy device
A thermotherapy device for treatment of neonates has a bordered lying surface (5) for receiving a neonate, a vertical support column (8) arranged adjacent to the head end of the lying surface (5) and radiant heaters (3, 4), supported by the column, directed at the lying surface (5). A control unit controls the heating output of each of the radiant heaters (3, 4). At least one first radiant heater (4) is directed at a head end half of the lying surface (5). At least one second radiant heater (3) is directed at the other half of the lying surface. The control unit (9) adjusts the heating output of the first radiant heater and the second radiant heater in such that, with the lying surface (5) arranged horizontally, the heating output of the second radiant heater (3) is greater by a predefined factor than that of the first radiant heater (4).
Thermotherapy device
A heat therapy appliance for treatment of neonates has a lying surface on a platform bordered by side walls, a hood movable between a closed incubator position, bearing on the side walls and covering the lying surface, and an open nursing care position, a radiant heater secured on the appliance structure and directed at the lying surface, lifting devices acting on the platform, and a control device actuating the lifting devices to adjustably set an angle of inclination of the platform with respect to the horizontal. The platform is mounted so as to be adjustable in height. The control device also actuates the lifting devices in the same direction, to adjust the vertical position of the platform with respect to the side walls between a first position and a second position higher than the first position.
Direct-drive tilt mechanism for infant-care medical devices
A system and method for tilting an infant-supporting device is operable by two actuators that are disposed outside of a thermo-regulated and/or sterile area of the infant-supporting device.
Pressurization of a support structure for handling of a person
The present disclosure relates to a system and method for controlling the pressurization of a support structure for handling of a person, the support structure comprising: a body comprising a row of at least two elongated sections adapted to be pressurized; a carrier plate, wherein, in a pressurized loaded condition of one or more of the elongated sections, the carrier plate is adapted to form an at least partially concavely curved front surface; a power unit adapted to pressurize one or more parts of the support structure individually via a respective valve; one or more sensors adapted to measure movements of the person and/or variations or deviations in pressurized parts of the support structure; and a controller configured to control the power unit to pressurize each part of the support structure that is adapted to be pressurized individually, based at least on sensor measurement data from the one or more sensors.
Smart Rocking Bed Device and System
A smart powered rocking bed is disclosed comprising a plurality of vertical and horizontal actuators in contact with a rocking frame configured to receive the rocking bed, the electronic actuators configured to act together to rock the bed in three dimensions. The smart powered rocking bed also includes a digital processor configured to electrically drive the actuators in a plurality of predetermined multi-directional and simultaneous ocean-like motions over a period of time provided for a user's choice. The smart powered rocking bed additionally includes a linkage configured to connect the rocking frame to the actuators and mechanically provide the multi-directional and simultaneous ocean-like motions in the three dimensions over time as chosen by the user. A smart powered rocking bed system further includes a health care database, a discrete personal digital device such as a cell phone and health care telemetry sensors placed on or in a user thereof.
APPARATUS AND METHODS FOR IMPROVING HEALTH OUTCOMES OF PRETERM INFANTS
Adverse effects of pain in a premature infant, especially a very or extremely premature infant may be ameliorated by exposing the infant to stimuli comprising one or more of vertical oscillating motion simulating breathing, skin contact with an interface that mimics human skin and exposure to sounds and/or vibrations that simulate heartbeats. A device including a movable platform provides such stimuli within a neonatal intensive care incubator. The device provides simulated maternal breathing through vertical movement at a rate and speed similar to that experienced by an infant lying upon its mother's chest. It further provides simulated maternal skin interface feel as well as heartbeat sound. These simulated sensory parameters appear to have an innate calming effect upon a preterm infant that reduces the duration and severity of the infant's response to a pain event. The same stimulations may reduce occurrence of below-baseline fluctuations of brain blood oxygen content.
NEONATAL SCALE PLATFORM HAVING FLEXIBLE CABLE FOR MAINTAINING SCALE CALIBRATION
An apparatus and method of calibrating the apparatus are disclosed. The apparatus may include a scale platform, a warming therapy device comprising a bassinet and at least one electrical device, the warming therapy device being disposed on the scale platform, the scale platform disposed between the warming therapy device and the base; and a conductor assembly adapted to (a) supply electrical power between a power supply and at least some of the at least one electrical device, and (b) enable the transmission of electrical signals from the at least one electrical device to the computer system, the conductor assembly comprising a scale platform cable assembly comprising a plurality of conductors, the scale platform cable assembly having a first connector end and a second connector end, the first connector end being rigidly affixed to the load cell carrier and the second connector end being rigidly affixed to the scale platform cover.
