Input devices for controlling a wheelchair
A system for controlling a wheelchair is disclosed. The system includes an input device that includes a shaft element, a base element, and one or more annular elements. A lower distal end of the shaft element is coupled to the base element, and the shaft element is configured to pivotally move about the lower distal end of the shaft element. A first annular element of the one or more annular elements is circumferentially disposed around the shaft element. The first annular element is coupled to the base element, and the first annular element is configured to rotate about the shaft element. The input device is configured to generate one or more input signals based on a position of the first annular element and a pivotal movement of the shaft element. The one or more input signals are configured to cause a controller to set an operation mode of the wheelchair.

A frame positioning device comprises a base assembly, an elevation and rotation assembly coupled to the base assembly, and a table assembly coupled to the elevation and rotation assembly. The table assembly comprises a table support and pivot sub-assembly, a first table section subassembly, and a second table section subassembly. The table support and pivot subassembly is coupled to the first table section subassembly via a first pivot point. The table support and pivot subassembly is coupled to the second table section subassembly via a second pivot point.

A dental chair is adapted to be used in cooperation with a dental scanning instrument. The dental chair includes a chair unit, an adjustable support arm, and a display unit. The adjustable support arm has a first end that is connected to the chair unit, and a second end that is opposite to the first end. The adjustable support arm is adjustable in a segment-by-segment manner to move the second end relative to the first end. The display unit is connected to the second end of the adjustable support arm and is adapted to be in signal communication with the dental scanning instrument for displaying an image generated by the dental scanning instrument.
Patient Transport Apparatus With Electro-Mechanical Braking Input Hold Circuit
A patient transport apparatus includes a base, a patient support deck, a plurality of wheels, a plurality of brakes, and an electro-mechanical braking system. The electro-mechanical braking system includes a linkage and an electrical braking assembly. The linkage is operatively coupled to the brakes to place the brakes in a braked state, a released state, or other state. The electrical braking assembly includes an actuator assembly that moves the linkage via a driving member. A user interface includes an input control for user engagement. A brake control circuit includes a hold circuit to generate an enable signal with a predetermined voltage in response to the user engagement with the input control, maintain the enable signal for a predetermined period following user disengagement with the input control, and operate the actuator assembly with the enable signal to move the driving member within the predetermined period.
Methods and systems for configuration of a touch screen of a wheelchair on the basis of the user's disease state
Exemplary systems and methods associated with generating a customized touch screen configuration for a user of a wheelchair based on the user's disease state. The systems and methods determine the user's ability using various assessments. Generating a customized touch screen configuration includes modifying various touch screen feature settings in accordance with the user's capabilities. These settings include various techniques to better recognize touch screen input gestures from users with disabilities.

A medical treatment apparatus includes a power and control (PAC) device. The PAC device provides electrical power through a cable to a laser handpiece assembly to electrically power a laser source within the handpiece assembly. The PAC device controls operation of the handpiece assembly and detects an identification of the handpiece assembly. The PAC device also monitors data relating to operation of the handpiece assembly. The PAC device uploads, through a communication network to a user assistance center remote from the PAC device, the handpiece assembly identification and the monitored data.

According to one embodiment, a bed system that is mechanically and electrically connectable to a main body of a medical image diagnosis apparatus includes a traveling unit and an interface. The traveling unit provided between the bed system and a floor surface. The interface configured to receive an operation of locking or unlocking driving of the traveling unit. The operation on the interface of locking or unlocking driving of the traveling unit is interlocked with electrical connection between the bed system and the main body.

A caregiver assistance system for assisting a caregiver in a healthcare facility to perform his or her rounding duties comprises a server in communication with one or more patient beds and one or more electronic devices (e.g. smart phones) that are remote from the beds and that include a display, a user input, and a web browser. The server executes a caregiver assistance application that causes the electronic device to perform the following actions after the web browser of the electronic device accesses a particular URL whose content and function are controlled by the caregiver assistance application: (a) display rounding information on the display relating to a patient associated with the bed, and (b) forward a completion indication to the caregiver assistance application wherein the completion indication is generated in response to a caregiver manipulating the user input when the caregiver has completed a rounding task associated with the patient.
Patient support apparatus user interfaces
A patient support apparatus comprising a patient support deck operatively attached to a base with a deck section arranged for movement between first and second positions determined by a deck sensor. A first user interface comprises a screen configured to display visual content including a content portion having first and second content states. A second user interface comprises an access panel including a panel portion with a light module having first and second illumination states. A controller is configured to display the content portion in the first content state and to control the light module in the first illumination state when the deck sensor determines the deck section is in the first section position, and to display the content portion on the screen in the second content state and to control the light module in the second illumination state when the deck section is in the second position.
