Rotatable Swing Arm Stabilizer Assembly For Folding Wheelchairs
20180000668 · 2018-01-04 ·

A swing arm assembly for a foldable wheelchair consisting of a camber tube and adapters is disclosed. The adapters mount to the frame of the wheelchair and receive the ends of the camber tube. One end of the camber tube is pinned into an adapter such that it pivots. The other end is pinned in an adapter using a quick release pin. The camber tube improves the stability of the foldable wheelchair. When desired to fold the wheelchair, the quick release pin is removed and the camber tube is rotated approximately 90 degrees, thereby allowing the wheelchair to fold. The adapters may be mounted to the wheelchair frame or to stub axles if used. The swing arm assembly adds substantial stiffness and stability to a folding wheelchair.

Removable power assist for manual wheelchair

Apparatus and associated methods relate to a removable power assist for converting a manual wheelchair into an electronic wheelchair, based on configuring a friction roller to releasably engage with a wheelchair wheel, configuring the friction roller when engaged to drive the wheel through a contact surface with the wheel above the wheel center and behind the wheelchair seating area, configuring a motor to rotate the friction roller, and moving the wheelchair based on engaging the friction roller and activating the motor to turn the wheel through force by the friction roller against the contact surface with the wheel. The power assist may include a user-operable lever configured to engage or disengage the friction roller without a user leaving their seated position in the wheelchair. Configuring the friction roller above the wheel center and behind the wheelchair seating area may permit collapsible wheelchair folding or unfolding without uninstalling the power assist.

Disclosed is a wheelchair, and particularly to a wheelchair with a lifting function, which has a simple structure for automatically moving a seating block where a wheelchair user is sitting, and enables the seating block to have a lifting movement and a rotational movement, thereby simplifying a structure and assisting the wheelchair user in standing up safely

Electrical power assistance device for transport wheelchair
11607354 · 2023-03-21 · ·

An electrical power assistance device designed to be removably coupled to existing transport wheelchairs to provide electric power to aid in transportation of a person sitting in the wheelchair, while being detachable to allow the transport chair to fold up for easy storage in a car or other vehicle. The electrical power assistance device includes a motor powered by a rechargeable battery, where the motor drives an internal shaft which rotates a pair of friction wheels. A clutch, provided on a separate axle coupled to the friction wheels by eccentric disks, allows the friction wheels to engage or disengage with the rear wheels of the transport wheelchair.

EXCHANGEABLE UNIVERSAL WHEELCHAIR POWER ASSIST

Apparatus and associated methods relate to a wheelchair power assist device configured to be installed, uninstalled and exchanged using an exchange tab welded to a wheelchair, and when installed to switch a motorized friction roller between engaged and disengaged modes with a wheelchair wheel, based on an engagement actuator configured to move the friction roller relative to the wheelchair. The friction roller may be operably coupled with an engagement member configured to move relative to the wheelchair. The engagement member may be moved by an extendable and retractable actuator shaft coupled with the wheelchair. A manual wheelchair may be converted to a powered wheelchair using a motorized friction roller for each wheelchair wheel while leaving an open space behind the wheelchair seating area, advantageously permitting the power assist devices to remain attached to a foldable wheelchair in either folded or unfolded configurations.

A foldable chair includes backrest rods hinged to a seat unit, leg units, armrest units, a first foldable rod unit, and a linking rod unit. Each leg unit includes a sleeve member connected to the seat unit and slidably sleeved on a rear leg rod connected to the seat unit. Each armrest unit is connected to one of the leg units and one of the backrest rods. The first foldable rod unit is connected between the backrest rods to move the backrest rods. The linking rod unit includes an end connected to the first foldable rod unit, and another end pivotally connected to one of the backrest arm units, or one of the sleeve members of the leg units.

Stroller rollator

A rollator is disclosed, including first and second upright members, each including handle portions, wheels, hinges disposed between the wheels and the handle portions, channels disposed along the upright members between the hinges and the wheels, and lateral hinges orthogonal to the hinges. First and second foldable support members having wheels are attached to the hinges. At least one lateral support member is disposed between and attached to the lateral hinges, and includes an intermediate hinge. Brake systems include brake lines communicating between brake controls and brakes. In a reversible storage configuration, the foldable support members are rotated to be at least partially disposed in the channels, and the lateral hinges and intermediate hinge rotate to collapse the lateral support member, bringing the upright members with the folded foldable support members adjacent to one another.

Wheel chair with automatic breaking

A wheel chair with several new and useful features is provided. Those new and useful features provide the wheel chair with enhanced lateral stability, automatic cocking of an automatic locking device whenever an occupant sits in the wheel chair, and a holding mechanism that enables the wheel chair to be freely wheeled about when there is no occupant, and automatically move to a cocked state as soon as an occupant sits on the chair. The result is an automatic locking system for a manual wheelchair that unlocks the wheels for intentional motion when the chair is occupied, and locks the wheelchair wheels immediately when it is unoccupied, yet in no way interferes with the typical locking mechanism of the standard manual wheelchair when so desired.
