Hydrophobic topical compositions and methods for producing same
An anhydrous topical composition provides a water repellent surface. The anhydrous topical composition has at least one film former with surface tension lower than 35 dynes/cm, at least one particle having a hydrophobic surface or a hydrophobic surface treatment, and a volatile topical carrier.
EXPANDED POLYMER POWDERS
The invention relates to small expanded polymer powder particles, and uses thereof. The expanded powder particles are formed by a non-melt process, resulting in individual expanded particles in the 5 to 100 micron range. The expanded powder particles are especially useful in cosmetic applications, as they provide a softer feel than a powder, and have a much higher surface area, making them highly absorbent for removing liquids and oils, as well as for use as excellent carriers and release agents for active ingredients.
Lip compositions capable of forming a multilayer structure after application to lips
Lip compositions including at least one semi-crystalline acrylate copolymer, wherein the compositions include at least two components prior to mixing and application to lips and are capable of forming a multilayer structure after application to lips, are provided.
RAW MATERIAL FOR COSMETIC AND OIL-IN-WATER EMULSION COSMETIC COMPRISING CORE-CORONA POLYMER PARTICLE
Provided are: a core-corona polymer particle excellent in emulsion stability and feeling of use, and a raw material for a cosmetic and an oil-in-water emulsion cosmetic comprising the particle. The present invention provides a core-corona polymer particle obtained by radical-polymerizing a polyethylene oxide macromonomer represented by the formula (1) and one or two or more of hydrophobic monomers represented by the formulas (2) and (3) under the following conditions (A) to (D).
Oral care implement having a release component
Described herein is an oral care implement comprising: a handle; and a head coupled to the handle, the head comprising a main body and a release component coupled to the main body, the release component comprising: a water-dissolvable matrix comprising a first polymer having a processing temperature greater than or equal to 130° C.; and a release agent comprising at least one of zinc oxide, potassium nitrate, and tetrapotassium pyrophosphate; wherein the release agent is dispersed throughout the water-dissolvable matrix.
Hair cosmetic
A hair cosmetic containing (A) a specified quaternary ammonium salt, (B) a dimethylpolysiloxane having a weight average molecular weight of 300 or more and 3,000 or less, and water, the hair cosmetic being used by applying on the hair and then rinsing away, wherein the content of the component (B) is 0.5 mass % or more and 60 mass % or less, and a receding contact angle (θ.sub.R) of water droplet as measured by the expansion-contraction method with respect to the surface of a polyethylene plate which is applied with the hair cosmetic and then subjected to water washing is 82° or more and 110° or less. A treatment method of hair including (I) applying the hair cosmetic on the hair and spreading it over the entire hair, and (II) rinsing away the hair cosmetic with water from the entire hair.
Bio-based and biodegradable elastomer for cosmetic and personal care
A polyurethane elastomeric rubber composition containing a bio-based polyol cross-linked with a bio-based isocyanate using a urethanation catalyst such as a bismuth catalyst in the presence of a cosmetic emollient is disclosed. The cross-linked polyurethane elastomer rubber is in further aspect of the invention included in a gel after being milled in the presence of a bio-based emollient or mixture of bio-based emollients. The polyurethane elastomeric gel has good compatibility with cosmetic and natural oils and can be used as a gelling agent for these oils among other desirable cosmetic formulary roles.
BIO-GEL COMPOSITION AND NAIL CARE SYSTEM
A nail-care composition includes at least 50 wt. % bio-based components, based on the total weight of the composition, including acrylated epoxidized soybean oil and acrylated linseed oil as bio-based monomer(s) and/or oligomer(s) in a ratio of about 4:1 to 7:1, photoinitiator(s); and adhesion promoter(s), the composition having a shear-dependent viscosity of about 1200-4000 cP, measured according to ASTM D7867, under shear stress of about 10-180 N/m.sup.2.
Compositions and methods for reducing ice crystal formation
The present invention provides peptoid polymers capable of reducing or inhibiting the formation of ice crystals at sub 0° C. temperatures. Also provided are peptoid-peptide hybrids comprising the peptoid polymers provided herein. The peptoid polymers and peptoid-peptide hybrids provided herein are useful for making cryoprotectant solutions. The peptoid polymers, peptoid-peptide hybrids, and cryoprotectant solutions provided herein are useful for making antifreeze solutions, frozen food products, and cosmetic care products. Also provided herein are methods for preserving a tissue, an organ, a cell, or a biological macromolecule using the compositions described herein.
