PER-ORAL NEGATIVE CONTRAST AGENT FOR ABDOMINAL IMAGING

An edible negative contrast agent for CT imaging of the gastrointestinal tract intended for oral intake. The contrast agent is a fluid, aqueous foam displaying a CT density contrast value in the range −300 to −800 HU and having a consistency of 7 to 12 cm as measured with Bostwick consistometer. The contrast agent comprises an aqueous continuous liquid phase having a pH of 6.5 to 8.0 and gas bubbles dispersed in the continuous aqueous liquid phase. The aqueous continuous liquid phase comprises a surfactant, the surfactant being a protein, a hydrocolloid acting as foam stabilizer, a buffering agent, and water.

Ferromagnetic particles as ultra-sensitive non-linear response labels for magnetic particles imaging (MPI) and sensing applications

A significant enhancement of detection capabilities of the room temperature MPQ is seen using optical lithography-defined, ferromagnetic iron-nickel alloy microdisks. Irreversible transitions between strongly non-collinear (vortex) and a collinear single domain states, driven by an ac magnetic field, translate into a nonlinear magnetic response that enables ultrasensitive detection of material at relatively small magnetic fields.

Semifluorocarbon Compound Containing Contrast Agent

The present invention relates to an aqueous emulsion comprising a) a semifluorinated compound of formula I:

CF.sub.3—(CF.sub.2).sub.x—(CH.sub.2).sub.y—CH.sub.3   (I)  wherein x is an integer ranging from 1 to 8 and y is an integer ranging from 2 to 10, b) a triglyceride which is miscible with the semifluorinated compound at 20° C.; and c) an emulsifier.

REDUCED METASTABLE COMPLEX MACROCYCLIC CONTRAST AGENTS

Gadolinium based contrast agents (GCA) incorporating linear ligand chelation are fundamentally different from GCAs incorporating macrocyclic ligands. The macrocyclic GCAs are synthesized by pathways characterized by the formation of a sequence of metastable complexes before obtaining the final stable complex. The synthesis of linear GCAs do not form metastable complexes. Commercial macrocyclic GCAs contain unstable metastable complexes. These metastable species are not regulated and quickly release free Gd3+ ions upon administration into the body. Gadolinium based contrast agents with near zero metastable species content and methods of synthesizing the same are disclosed. Gadolinium based contrast agents with long dissociation time in the body, and low free Gd3+ ion formation are obtained using a synthesis method which departs in novel ways from the traditional free Gd3+-based synthesis methods.

Process for the preparation of a suspension of nanosized synthetic zeolite materials, suspensions of nanosized synthetic zeolite materials obtained by said process and their uses in therapy and diagnosis

The present invention relates to a method for the preparation of a colloidal aqueous suspension of stable zeolite nanocrystals having framework structures comprising at least one cation selected from Gd, Fe, Cu and Ce, said structures being loaded with a gas selected from O.sub.2, CO.sub.2 and mixtures thereof, to the colloidal aqueous suspension of zeolite nanocrystals obtained by such a process, and to the use of said suspension in therapy, more particularly in cancer therapy and hypoxia-related diseases and/or in diagnosis.
