VENTILATION SYSTEM WITH A SPEAKING FUNCTION
System for assisting a patient in speaking, comprising at least one ventilation apparatus and a patient interface, the ventilation apparatus comprising at least one controllable respiratory gas source and being designed to identify two or more respiratory phases, at least inspiration and expiration, of the patient, and the patient interface having at least one speaking tube and a respiratory tube and being configured to conduct speaking gas to the patient via the speaking tube and to conduct respiratory gas to and/or from the patient via the respiratory tube. The system is configured to provide speaking gas to the patient at least temporarily in a speaking mode in order to enable speaking.
CRICOTHEROTOMY APPARATUS AND METHOD
A cricothyrotomy apparatus includes a frame, a protuberance, and a blade member. The frame includes a blade guide. The protuberance extends in a first direction from the frame, and is located at a distance from the blade guide that corresponds to the distance between a sternal notch of an adult human and an anterior cricothyroid membrane of the adult human. The protuberance is sized and configured to be at least partly received by a sternal notch of an adult human. The blade member is slideably disposed in the blade guide.
A CLAMP FOR A BRONCHOSCOPE OR THE LIKE
A clamp for inter alia a bronchoscope, the clamp comprising a spine with frame which has a channel through which a tube of inter alia the bronchoscope is received. The frame includes clamping means to grip the tube within the frame to fix it in position. The clamping is releasable to allow further movement of the tube relative to the frame.
Endotracheal Tube and Endotracheal Sleeve and Methods of Introducing Endotracheal Tube to a Patient
An endotracheal safety device comprising an endotracheal tube having a proximal end and a distal end, the endotracheal tube defining a lumen between the proximal end and the distal end, an endotracheal sleeve assembly having a proximal end and a distal end, the endotracheal sleeve assembly defining a lumen between the proximal end and the distal end, the endotracheal sleeve assembly configured to be movable over the endotracheal tube, and an adapter having a proximal end and a distal end, the distal end of the adapter configured to be received by the proximal end of the endotracheal sleeve assembly.
INTUBATION AID
One aspect of the invention relates to an intubation aid (10). The intubation aid (10) comprises an elongated main part (12), and the intubation aid (10) is provided with an operating device (26). The main part (12) is designed to be curved in a first region (18) of the main part (12), and the main part (12) is additionally designed to be curved in a second region (20) of the main part (12), said second region being separated from the first region (18) and being arranged adjacently to the free end (16) of the main part (12). The main part (12) additionally comprises a positioning device (24) which is designed to limit a translational displacement of a tube (46) placed on the intubation aid (10) in at least one direction. A second aspect of the invention relates to an intubation aid which can be placed on an endoscope.
System and method for video assisted percutaneous needle cricothyrotomy and tracheostomy
A system and method for video assisted percutaneous needle cricothyrotomy and tracheostomy to assist physicians in quickly intubating patients suffering from respiratory distress when oral or nasal intubation is not possible or contraindicated. The system and method includes a display monitor, a percutaneous needle assembly including a connection hub having a syringe port for removably attaching a syringe, a needle port for attaching a hollow needle, and a stylet port in communication with the needle port for receiving a fiber optic stylet that extends through the hollow needle. The fiber optic stylet includes one or more illuminators, and a camera for capturing and transmitting anatomical images for display on the display monitor to visually assist physicians in locating a patient's trachea lumen. The fiber optic stylet is positioned within the trachea lumen, and used as a guide wire to insert a dilator and cannula for ventilating the patient.
System for reducing local discomfort
A device for targeted delivery of a substance to an airway may include a conduit and at least two applicators. The conduit may include a proximal end and a bifurcated distal portion having two distal ends. Each applicator may be coupled with one of the distill ends of the conduit and may be configured to direct the substance out of the applicator toward one of two sides of an airway. A method for targeted delivery of a substance to an airway may involve advancing a substance delivery device into the airway, contacting two sides of the airway with at least two applicators of the substance delivery device, such that each applicator contacts the airway near a glossopharyngeal nerve and/or a superior laryngeal nerve on each of the two sides of the airway, and delivering the substance through the applicators to contact the airway along the two sides.
Tracheotomy tube-based monitoring systems and methods
In one embodiment, a monitoring system includes a monitoring device configured to removably attach to a tracheotomy tube, the monitoring device including a skin sensor configured to detect contact with skin of a patient's neck.
SECUREMENT DEVICE FOR MEDICAL TUBING
A medical securement device for use in securing a medical tube to a patient. The securement device includes a flat base having a top surface, a bottom surface configured to contact a skin surface of the patient, and a central circular opening formed in the flat base. The securement device further includes a cylindrical wall with an outer surface, an inner surface configured for placement adjacent the medical tube, a bottom end surrounding the central circular opening, a top end located opposite the bottom end. Adhesive is provided on the inner surface of the cylindrical wall and is configured to fix the medical tube at a selected position within the cylindrical wall such that a selected length of the medical tube extends below the bottom surface of the flat base.
Devices and methods for guiding instruments
The present disclosure relates generally to the field of medical devices. In particular, the present disclosure relates to devices and methods to guide delivery devices and instruments. Exemplary instrument guides, including for endoscopes as delivery devices for cryogen delivery catheters and to guide cryogen decompression tubes as instruments, and methods for use of such instrument guides for use in body lumens at treatment sites, are disclosed.
