Pre-filled safety needle and syringe system

A needle and pre-filled syringe system that provides ultra-low dosage waste and automatic needlestick protection. A syringe assembly is pre-filled with an injection material. A needle head assembly attaches to the syringe assembly. A spacer is disposed between the needle head assembly and the syringe assembly. The spacer has a central opening. The needle head assembly supports a needle with a needle base. When assembled, the needle base passed into the central opening of the spacer. The needle head assembly also contains a safety slide that can selectively cover the needle. During an injection, pressure and/or contact with the plunger head causes the spacer to contact and move the safety slide. The safety slide moves to cover the needle during the injection procedure, therein rendering the needle safe before the injection process is even complete.

Ultra-low waste needle and syringe system that automatically and passively renders a needle safe during the injection process

A needle and syringe system that provides ultra-low dosage waste and automatic needlestick protection. A syringe assembly is provided that contains a barrel and a plunger. A tubular spacer is disposed in the barrel. A needle head assembly is provided that includes a collar and a needle. A safety slide is positioned between the needle and the collar. The safety slide has a sheathing tube that surrounds part of the needle. The safety slide can move relative the needle. In a first position, the sheathing tube does not extend beyond the sharpened end of the needle. In a second position, the sheathing tube extends beyond the sharpened end of the needle. When advanced, the plunger head moves the tubular spacer. The tubular spacer passes over the base of the needle and presses against the safety slide. The safety slide is moved from the first position to the second position.

An autoinjector device is disclosed which comprises a body portion and a syringe carrier, for supporting a syringe with a needle at its forward end. The syringe carrier is moveably mounted within the housing such that forward movement relative to the housing may extend the needle from a forward end of the body. The syringe carrier has a latch element arranged to cooperate with a corresponding retention feature of the body portion to releasably hold the syringe carrier in a rearward position within the body potion. A delivery mechanism is arranged to forwardly displace the syringe carrier relative to the housing and to deliver a dose of medicament from the syringe. A shroud assembly is provided at a forward end of the device. The shroud further comprises a locking arrangement which blocks releasing movement of the latch element from the retention feature when the shroud is in a first, forward position and is unlocked when the shroud is in a second, rearward position.

Resettable prefilled syringe training device with releaseably locking needle guard

In an embodiment, a resettable injection training device and a method embodiment for resetting the device is provided herein. The device may include a housing having a proximal end and a distal end, the housing defining a cavity there within. A plunger may be slidable relative to the housing between the proximal end and the distal end. A releasably locking shield having a proximal end and a distal end, and being slidably engaged with the housing is also provided. The shield may be slidable between a retracted, pre-use position an extended, locked, post-use position. The device may further include a flat biasing member for locking the shield in the extended position, and a compressing component slidable relative to the housing, wherein pressure on the flat biasing member from the compressing component deforms the flat biasing member, and unlocks the shield, and wherein a release of pressure by the compressing component on the flat biasing member locks the shield in an extended, post-use position.

A needle and syringe system, wherein a needle head is attached to a syringe assembly. The syringe assembly includes a syringe barrel and a plunger rod with a plunger head. A needle base is affixed to the syringe barrel. A tubular cavity is formed in the needle base and a post extends through the tubular cavity. A needle extends through the post. A spacer is provided. The spacer is displaced into the tubular cavity within the needle base as the plunger head is advanced within the syringe barrel. A protective cover is disposed about the needle base. The spacer moves the protective cover between a first position and a second position as the spacer is displaced into the tubular cavity. As the protective cover moves between positions, the protective cover surrounds the needle and prevents the needle from causing any inadvertent needle stick injuries.

A system with a needle head that attaches to a syringe assembly. The syringe assembly contains a barrel and a plunger. The plunger has a bore opening that is accessible from within the barrel. A tubular spacer is disposed within the barrel. The tubular spacer defines a central opening. The needle head has a needle that extends from a needle base. The needle base extends into the central opening of the tubular spacer. A plug is provided that blocks access to the needle. The plug is displaced out of the central opening of the tubular spacer and into the opening in the plunger as the plunger contacts and displaces the tubular spacer in the barrel. As the plug is displaced from the tubular spacer, the plug transfers into the bore opening within the plunger. This enables the plunger to press flush against the tubular spacer.

Prefilled syringe training device with releaseably locking needle guard

Embodiments provided herein include a resettable injection training device having a body, a plunger slidable relative thereto, an injection simulation member and retractable and extendable shield, wherein the shield releasably locks in a retracted position prior to use. After use of the training device, the shield extends over the injection simulation member to prevent contact with the injection simulation member. Resetting of the slidable shield occurs by applying a force onto a distal end of the shield to retract the shield until a shield locking surface interacts with a locking surface on the body to maintain the shield in a retracted position. Release of the shield from a retracted position to an extended position may occur by moving the plunger toward a distal end of the body until a contact region at a proximal end of the plunger releases the shield locking surface from the body locking surface to release the shield.
