VALVE ASSEMBLY AND METHODS OF USE
A valve assembly including a housing having a base and an outer shell, which forms a proximal cavity and a distal cavity joined by a canal; an inner housing configured for longitudinal movement within the distal cavity; a seal positioned within the distal cavity that together with the longitudinal movement of the inner housing regulates the flow of fluid through the valve assembly; and one or more selected from the group consisting of the base notched with one or more notches and the inner housing having one or more through slots aligned to permit access to the one or more notches, the seal being a reversibly deformable sealing pin, and a torque limiter mechanism configured to resist the longitudinal movement of the inner housing distally until a sufficient radial force is applied.
MEDICAL CONNECTOR
Some embodiments disclosed herein relate to medical connectors with a housing comprising a proximal body member and a base member that form an internal cavity with a proximal abutment surface. An elastomeric seal without a guide member is positioned within the internal cavity. A rigid, hollow elongated portion is located within the internal cavity such that in an open configuration, a tip of the elongated portion is more proximal than a proximal surface of the elastomeric seal. A distal portion of the elastomeric seal is seated radially within a region surrounded by a plurality of longitudinally extending protrusions.
Compressible cannula valve
A needleless valve system includes a cannula comprising a cannula tip; a valve comprising a valve tip, wherein the valve is disposed around the cannula; and a housing comprising a housing tip, wherein the cannula tip, the valve tip, and the housing tip comprise a flat surface when the needleless valve system is in a sealed position.
Reusable aseptic fluid couplings
Some fluid coupling devices described herein are configured for use in fluid systems for purposes of providing a repeatable, aseptic fluid coupling system. Such repeatable, aseptic fluid coupling systems are configured to facilitate multiple connection and disconnection cycles while repeatably establishing a sterile fluid pathway through the coupling system. The repeatable, aseptic fluid coupling systems can repeatably establish a sterile fluid pathway through the coupling system even though the coupling system may be used in a non-sterile environment.
NEEDLELESS CONNECTOR WITH COMPRESSIBLE AND DEFLECTABLE VALVE
A needleless connector may include a housing having a proximal end, a distal end, and an inner surface defining an internal cavity extending between the proximal and distal ends. A compressible valve may be disposed within the internal cavity. The compressible valve may include a head portion, a flange portion for securing the compressible valve in the housing, and a body portion extending between the head portion and the flange portion. The body portion may include a cylindrical outer surface having an external notch extending along a portion of a circumference of the cylindrical outer surface and recessed radially-inward from the cylindrical outer surface. The body portion may further include a planar face extending distally from the external notch and disposed between the external notch and the flange portion. The planar face may be recessed radially inward relative to at least a portion of the cylindrical outer surface.
Multiple-use intravenous catheter assembly septum and septum actuator
The present invention relates to a multiple-use intravenous (IV) catheter assembly septum and septum actuator. In particular, the present invention relates to an IV catheter assembly having a stationary septum actuator and a blood control septum, wherein the blood control septum is configured to slide within a catheter adapter of the IV catheter assembly between a compressed state and an uncompressed state. When in the compressed state, a slit of the blood control septum is opened and the septum comprises stored compressive potential energy. When the septum is released from the compressed state, the stored compressive potential energy is release and the blood control septum is restored to its original shape, thereby closing the septum's slit.
NEEDLELESS CONNECTOR HAVING CHECK VALVE WITH LIP SEAL
A valve member for a connector includes a head portion, a body portion, and a circumferential lip seal extending radially outward from an outer surface of the head portion. The head portion includes a top section defining a first seal portion. The body portion extends longitudinally from the head portion and defines a second seal portion at a proximal end thereof. The second seal portion is disposed distally to the first seal portion. The circumferential lip seal is disposed between the first and second seal portions.
Male reflux valve
A male reflux valve comprising a distal body portion and a proximal body portion, the proximal body portion having a male connection for connection to a female connection of an access device, a valve element operatively positioned within the distal body portion, a core operatively positioned within the distal body portion to retain the valve element into sealing engagement with the distal body portion and an actuator reciprocably retained within a generally circular cylindrical longitudinal bore of the proximal body portion in engagement with the valve element to open the valve element when engaged by the female connection of the access device.
Septum actuator with insertion depth limiter and compression compensator
A multi-use intravenous infusion assembly is presented which includes a septum actuator having various features to prevent over-insertion of the septum actuator through a slit in a blood control septum. By preventing over-insertion of the septum actuator, the slit of the septum is able to repeatedly self-close following removal of an external Luer device. Thus, the intravenous infusion assembly may be used repeatedly without exposing a clinician to blood and other infusion fluids.
Collapsible valve
A collapsible valve comprising a first portion with at least one dimple in a side thereof, and a second portion, the second portion being narrower than the first portion and arranged along an axial dimension of the first portion, the second portion including a cut therein.
