OXYGENATED HEMOGLOBIN AND APPARATUSES, SYSTEMS, AND METHODS THEREFORE

This disclosure describes devices, systems, and methods related to oxygenated hemoglobin, the generation thereof, and the use thereof. An exemplary oxygenated hemoglobin therapy system includes an oxygen source configured to provide oxygen and a hemoglobin source configured to provide topical hemoglobin. The therapy system may also include a mixer which has a first inlet, a second inlet, and an outlet. The mixer is configured to mix the oxygen and the topical hemoglobin to form a mixture and to provide the mixture to a dressing via the outlet. The therapy system may further include the dressing. The oxygenated hemoglobin therapy systems described herein are suitable for use in medical devices, such as bandages, drapes, dressings, and wound closures.

ARRANGEMENT FOR IMPROVING THE EXCHANGE OF GASES VIA SEMIPERMEABLE MEMBRANES IN AN AQUEOUS MEDIUM
20220339333 · 2022-10-27 ·

Provided are methods and arrangements wherein gases are removed via semipermeable membranes from aqueous, optionally complex biological substance mixtures, by dialysis in an aqueous medium. Special carrier molecules for gases are included in the dialysate that are regenerated in the dialysate circuit so that they can be used for further gas exchange cycles on the membrane.

CELL WASHING APPARATUS

A cell washing apparatus is provided to wash a cell-containing fluid. The apparatus is arranged to exchange one or more exchangeable entities from a cell-containing first fluid, and comprises, a first fluid conduit and a second fluid conduit, the second fluid conduit separated from the first fluid conduit by a semi-permeable membrane disposed therebetween; the first fluid conduit having a first fluid inlet and a first fluid outlet, the first fluid conduit arranged to transport the first fluid in a first direction between the first fluid inlet and the first fluid outlet; the second fluid conduit being arranged to house a second fluid; wherein the semi-permeable membrane comprises a plurality of pores arranged to permit transport of said one or more exchangeable entities from the first fluid to the second fluid; wherein the one or more exchangeable entities comprise free haemoglobin and/or blood plasma; and wherein the first fluid is whole blood isolated from a human body, or packed red blood cells. The cell washing apparatus of the present invention aims to solve the problem of harmful species that accumulate in a cell-containing fluid (such as, for example, transfusion blood) during storage and other applications, in which it is desired to transfer red blood cells to a clean suspending liquid.

Wound spray

The present invention refers to a composition, comprising hemoglobin or myoglobin, wherein in at least 40% of said hemoglobin or myoglobin the oxygen binding site is charged by a non-O.sub.2 ligand, and at least one further ingredient, a method for preparing said composition and the use of hemoglobin or myoglobin charged with a non-oxygen ligand for external treatment of wounds.

Connected Drug Delivery System for Erythropoietin Stimulating Agents

Methods to treat anemia are provided whereby an erythropoietin stimulating agent (ESA) and an iron supplement are administered by a wearable device, based on patient parameters sensed by the wearable device. The method can involve monitoring patient parameters and dosing an ESA and an iron supplement in real-time, via the wearable device.

DIALYZER CONTROL APPARATUS AND DRIVING METHOD THEREOF
20210069398 · 2021-03-11 ·

A the dialyzer control apparatus includes a magnetic field generator which is disposed on an outer surface of a dialyzer which removes wastes from a blood flowing therein and generates a magnetic field; and a controller which controls the magnetic field generator to perform a magnetic field stimulation on the blood flowing into the dialyzer. The magnetic field stimulation may be a stimulation related to the improvement of the Rouleau formation for the red blood cells in the blood.

Optical detection and measurement of hematocrit and free hemoglobin concentration

A colorimetric optical sensor device includes a broadband light source configured to emit a light that is exposed to a fluid in a vessel. At least a portion of the light is reflected off of the fluid and received by an optical spectrometer. The optical spectrometer analyzes at least a portion of the received light to determine a main wavelength of the light. A controller correlates the main wavelength to a corresponding hematocrit or free hemoglobin concentration and generates an output indicative of the hematocrit or the free hemoglobin concentration of the fluid. The hematocrit or free hemoglobin concentration information may be used by a separation assembly in which the colorimetric optical sensor device may be incorporated to modify a separation procedure in which the monitored fluid is to be separated or is a component or constituent of a previously separated biological fluid.

Discerning between the presence of red blood cells and free hemoglobin in a biological fluid
10890524 · 2021-01-12 · ·

An optical sensor device includes a light source configured to emit a light including a wavelength in a range of 650 to 900 nm that is exposed to a biological fluid at first and second times. At least a portion of the light is reflected off of the fluid and received by a light detector. The light detector analyzes at least a portion of the received light to determine a first intensity of the light at the wavelength at the first time and a second intensity of the light at the wavelength at the second time. A controller compares the first and second intensities and generates an output indicative of the presence of red blood cells or free hemoglobin in the biological fluid depending on which intensity is greater and whether there is more redness in the biological fluid at the first time or at the second time.
