Apparatus is disclosed for ventilation using an airbag, which may also be operable manually. The apparatus comprises: means providing or penetrable to form an aperture in the airbag; retractable means provided separately from the airbag, for extending in the airbag; fixing means for fixing, by an operator, an end of the retractable means to the airbag via the aperture; actuation means, for repeatedly retracting the retractable means at least partially through the aperture in the airbag to collapse the airbag, and for enabling expansion of the airbag to an expanded state; and connecting means for connecting the actuation means to the airbag and for preventing environment egress of gas from within the airbag between the aperture and the actuation means.

APPARATUS FOR CUTTING A MATERIAL AND A METHOD FOR CUTTING A NEGATIVE PRESSURE WOUND THERAPY DRESSING
20230045643 · 2023-02-09 ·

A method for accurately, rapidly and consistently cutting an opening in drape material for negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) uses a cutting device that includes a plurality of cutting members that can extend from a bottom surface of the cutting device. A cover may fit over the bottom to protect the cutting members. The cutting members may be positioned to define a cut-out shape having dimensions designed for use with a NPWT system. An adhesive material may be formed on the bottom surface of the cutting device, inside of the cut-out shape defined by the cutting members. In use, the user presses the cutting tool onto the drape to cause the cutting members to cut into the drape and the adhesive to stick to the drape. When the user lifts the device, the drape, cut to the correct size and shape, is removed from the foam dressing covering the wound.

Methods and systems for metered dose inhalation monitoring and communication
11590299 · 2023-02-28 · ·

Methods and systems for monitoring the status and usage of a metered dose inhaler (MDI) and communicating status, usage, and guidance information to a user of the MDI and to a mobile computing device are presented herein. An IMD includes a dosage dispense detection device, an accelerometer, and a visual transducer, an audio transducer, a haptic transducer, or any combination thereof. The dosage dispense detection device detects when a user applies a compressive force across the IMD. The accelerometer measures a shaking of the IMD by a user before self-administering a dose. The IMD determines whether the medicine is adequately shaken by the user, and if so, communicates an indication to the user that the pressurized canister of medicine is ready for dosage. In another aspect, the IMD communicates a sequence of indications that mark each transition of a dosage regimen plan to self-administer a dosage of medicine.

ACTUATABLE DEVICE FOR PULSATILE DRUG DELIVERY

Delivery systems and their methods of use for delivering one or more therapeutic compounds to a user are described. A delivery system may include an implantable pump and an external actuator. The implantable pump may include an actuatable portion that may be actuated to dispense a volume of fluid. The external actuator may include a pusher configured to deform skin to engage an actuatable portion of the pump. The external actuator may also include a positioning magnet configured to magnetically attract a portion of the implantable pump such that the external actuator and the pump may be aligned prior to applying force to the portion of the skin between the external actuator and the actuatable portion of the pump.

Accessory for an inhaler, inhaler and method for detecting a drug administration process

The accessory (110) for an inhaler (100) is adapted to be removably assembled on a casing (101) of the inhaler (100), and comprises: an acceleration sensor (112), an optical type proximity sensor (113), an electronic circuitry (114) electrically connected to the acceleration sensor (112) and to the proximity sensor (113); the electronic circuitry (114) in combination with the acceleration sensor (112) and the proximity sensor (113) is adapted to detect a drug administration process; the electronic circuitry (114) in combination with the acceleration sensor (112) is adapted to detect an inhalation flow inside said inhaler (100).

Devices and methods for conduit distention
11701469 · 2023-07-18 ·

Devices and methods are disclosed that provide a syringe actuator device for use in the distention and irrigation of a body conduit before the use in a medical procedure such as a coronary bypass graft procedure. The device can be retrofit to a syringe by attaching it to the cap of the plunger and engaged to automatically apply pressure to fluid in the syringe. In some embodiments, elastic bands attached to the device are easily engaged or removed from a syringe during a procedure to limit the pressure on the syringe to various levels. The device may be overridden by an operator pushing on the plunger of the syringe as in normal syringe operation.

EXPANDABLE-MOUTH CATHETER INTRODUCER TOOL
20230008013 · 2023-01-12 ·

A medical assembly includes an expandable-mouth catheter and an introducer tool configured to facilitate advancement of the catheter into a delivery sheath. In some examples, a distal-most portion of the introducer tool includes a plurality of axial extensions separated by triangular-shaped slits. When the catheter is received within the introducer tool and when the introducer tool is received within a tapered portion of the delivery sheath, the axial extensions are configured to collapse radially inward to radially compress the expandable member and to enable the introducer to extend farther into the delivery sheath.

Peritoneal dialysis system and methods

Described herein are systems and methods for performing peritoneal dialysis. According to one aspect, the disclosure provides a sterile interface connection for connecting a water purification system to a disposable source of dialysate concentrates. The sterile interface connection can include a chamber comprising an inlet adapted to be connected to the water purification system on a proximal end and a valve on a distal end. The sterile interface connection can also include spring-loaded needle disposed in the chamber. The spring-loaded needle can move between a retracted configuration in which the spring-loaded needle is fully retracted into the chamber and the valve is closed and sealed, and an extended configuration in which the spring-loaded needle extends through the valve into the disposable source of dialysate concentrates.

Aromatherapy convection heating control system

Disclosed herein are aspects of portable vaporizers to deliver aliquots of heated air to material in a unitary furnace. The furnace is multipurposed reducing heat loss, air leakage and delays in availability of air aliquots at the proper temperature for use. By dividing the unitary furnace with an air permeable divider and placing material in the chamber a controller selectively providing electrical power to a heating element configured to heat air in at least an upper region of the unitary furnace. Upon application of suction to the fluid passage heated air passes into the material and vaporizes organic oils in the material and said heating a volume of air inside a unitary furnace vaporized material can be withdrawn from the fluid passage.
