Medical devices for blood reflux prevention and methods of use
Described is a catheter patency maintenance device comprising of a flush syringe, an elongate plunger rod with a stopper slidably positioned within the barrel, a cap, disinfectant and a valve movable between an open position and a closed position. The valve may include a valve stem and/or openings in the valve to permit fluid flow. Methods of using the flush syringe assemblies are also described.
UNIT FOR A MECHANICAL CONNECTING DEVICE FOR MEDICAL PURPOSES, PARTICULARLY FOR PERITONEAL DIALYSIS
The invention relates to a unit (1), particularly for use with an apparatus (2) configured to connect a tubular fitting (24) to a connector (14) and to disconnect the tubular fitting (24) from the connector (14), the unit (1) comprising: a body (16) having a first receptacle (18) and a connector holder (26) configured to hold the connector (14), a second receptacle (20), wherein each of said receptacles (18, 20) is configured for holding an end cap (22) of the tubular fitting (24), and wherein the unit (1) further comprises a capsule (290) that is configured to be connected to said body (16) in a releasable fashion, wherein said second receptacle (20) is formed by the capsule (290). Furthermore, the invention relates to a capsule (290) and to an apparatus (2).
MEDICAL CONNECTOR CONTAMINATION PREVENTION DEVICE
A system relating to improved medical-connector contamination prevention. More particularly, this invention relates to a reduced-touch contamination system for small-bore fluid connectors, including male and female Luer-type connectors.
Multi_use disinfecting cap and method
A multi-use disinfecting cap and method for disinfection and protection of a needleless IV injection port. The disinfecting cap has an upper chamber which contains a sterilizing solution and a low chamber which connects to a needleless IV injection port. The fluid can be manipulated to flow between the two chambers. When in use the cap protects and disinfects a needleless IV injection port when exposed prior to injecting medication into the needleless port and continues to disinfect and protect prior for any subsequent exposures. The cap is re-usable and provides a clear indication of the disinfecting solution and a datable top surface. The multi-use disinfecting cap may be removably clipped to the IV tubing and is shaped to prevent accidental rolling away if dropped.
Prepackaged needleless intravenous tubing with in-line disinfectant port caps
A prepackaged needleless intravenous line assembly is provided as well as a method of delivering intravenous medication and/or fluid to a patient while maintaining sterility of needleless access ports. The pre-packaged needleless intravenous line assembly is a sterile intravenous line with at least one sterile access port, each access port having a disinfection cap installed thereon, sealed within a pouch with at least one strip of multiple sealed disinfection caps. An intravenous tubing kit, having sterile intravenous tubing with capped sterile access ports as well as sealed replacement disinfection caps, is removed from the package and attached to a patient's intravenous catheter. A disinfection cap is removed from the sterile access port. Medication and/or fluid is administered into the access port. A replacement disinfection cap is installed onto the access port.
Sanitizing caps for medical connectors
Antiseptic caps that can be used to disinfect and/or protect medical connectors are disclosed herein. In some embodiments, the antiseptic cap can include a first chamber configured to be removably attached to the medical connector. Delivery systems for use with medical articles are also disclosed herein. In some embodiments, the delivery system comprises various dispensing systems for antiseptic caps and/or antiseptic cap holder assemblies. In some embodiments, the delivery system can be configured to permit the medical articles to be individually removable from the delivery system.
Priming device
Described is a priming device to prime a gas from a fluid delivery system by receiving the gas and a fluid used to push the gas into a chamber, the priming device including a housing having a chamber, an inlet port, and an opening to release gas received into the chamber. The device further includes a sleeve having an open first end for coupling with a male luer connector, a second end coupled to the housing, and an axis between the first and second ends. The sleeve defines at least one window. The device further includes an arm extending from a bottom of each window toward the first end, and a member extending radially from an inner surface of each arm. Each member has a ramp surface, an engagement surface extending transversely to the ramp surface, and an apex area that transitions between the ramp surface and the engagement surface.
COUPLING ELEMENT AND COUPLING SYSTEM FOR A CLOSED FLUID TRANSFER SYSTEM
A coupling member for a closed fluid transfer system includes a housing having a fluid connection and a coupling side. A first channel extends from the fluid connection toward the coupling side for fluidly connecting the fluid connection and the coupling side. An elastomer member surrounds an opening of the first channel, or forms a second channel adjoining the first channel. An elastomer member opening of the second channel is parallel to the longitudinal axis of the housing. The sealing surface is formed between a first position, in which the sealing surface seals the opening or the elastomer member opening of the second channel, and a second position, in which the sealing surface exposes the opening of the first channel or the elastomer member opening of the second channel for fluid communication with the coupling side.
COUPLING ELEMENT FOR A CLOSED FLUID TRANSFER SYSTEM, COUNTER COUPLING ELEMENT FOR A COUPLING ELEMENT OF THIS TYPE, AND COUPLING SYSTEM
A coupling member for a closed fluid transfer system includes a housing having a fluid connection and a coupling side. The housing includes a longitudinal axis extending from the fluid connection toward the coupling side and a spike having a fluid opening. The fluid opening is arranged in an end portion of the spike facing the coupling side. A sealing member receptacle is arranged in the housing on the coupling side, and a sealing member is arranged in the sealing member receptacle. The housing includes a housing portion that at least partially surrounds the sealing member receptacle and a threaded portion. The coupling housing with the sealing member is guided by a guiding structure and movable in the direction of the longitudinal axis via the threaded portion between a position with maximum distance to the fluid connection and a position with minimum distance to the fluid connection.
MEDICAL CONNECTOR WITH AUTOMATIC SEALING ON DISCONNECTION
The present invention relates to a medical connector with automatic sealing on disconnection and to a method of connecting/disconnecting a medical connector.
