The fluid delivery device includes a needle assembly that has a needle that includes a fluid coupling end and a delivery end. The fluid coupling end of the needle is fluidly disengaged from the cartridge in an initial position. The delivery end of the needle extends past the plane of the bottom surface and the fluid coupling end of the needle extends through the septum in a deployed position.

SPACE-EFFICIENT FREE PISTON RESERVOIR FOR A WEARABLE DRUG DELIVERY DEVICE
20230014094 · 2023-01-19 ·

Disclosed herein is a reservoir for use in a wearable drug delivery device having multiple chambers of potentially varying lengths or arrangement so as to efficiently utilize available space within a housing of the drug delivery device. Each of the chambers is connected to a fluid path and a liquid drug is drawn from each of the chambers by suction applied to the fluid path. Each of the chambers is fitted with a free piston which is moved within the chamber by the suction applied to the fluid path as it draws the liquid drug out of the chamber, thereby eliminating the need for a mechanical arrangement for moving the piston within each of the chambers.

A drug delivery device includes a container for storing a drug having a longitudinal axis. A plunger rod aligned with the longitudinal axis of the container has a first end and a second end, where the second end is disposed within the container. A stopper is disposed in and movable relative to the container for expelling the drug, and a drive mechanism is operatively coupled to the first end of the plunger rod. The drive mechanism is configured to deliver a drive force to move the plunger rod along the longitudinal axis and through the container. A chamber disposed between a plunger rod and the stopper is adapted to oppose the drive force of the drive mechanism.

A medicinal liquid supply control apparatus according to an embodiment of the present disclosure includes a reservoir located on a second channel to define an internal space that stores a medicinal liquid, an inlet hole and an outlet hole being formed in one portion of an outer surface of the reservoir and connected to the internal space, and a reservoir support part on which the one portion of the reservoir is fixed, an inlet connection hole connected to the inlet hole and an outlet connection hole connected to the outlet hole being formed at the reservoir support part.

Differential Pressure Fluid Delivery System

A system for delivering a medicinal fluid to a patient includes a variable volume pressure delivery chamber, a variable volume medication chamber, an optional medication reservoir, a movable delivery element, a fixed reference volume chamber, a pressure source, and a control sub-system. The variable volume pressure delivery chamber is configured to store pressure controllably. The variable volume medication chamber is fluidically isolated from the pressure delivery chamber and is configured to store medicinal fluid. The movable delivery element is disposed between the medication chamber and the pressure delivery chamber. The pressure source is coupled to the pressure delivery chamber. The control system is configured to selectively cause the pressure source to deliver pressure to the pressure delivery chamber causing the movable delivery element to apply pressure to the medicinal fluid in the medication chamber thereby causing the medicinal fluid to exit the medication chamber at an outlet along the fluid communication path to the patient.

An automatic injection device with flow regulation. The automatic injection device has an insertion needle configured to be inserted into a patient and a drug container which contains a pharmaceutical product and includes a plunger. The automatic injection device also has a fluid path which fluidly connects the drug container to the patient via an insertion needle, a potential energy source, and a regulator configured to restrict release of potential energy and restrict linear movement of the plunger and the pharmaceutical product into the fluid path at a proscribed pace. The regulator includes a clock escapement mechanism and a wire and pulley system including a wire coupled to at least one pulley. The potential energy source may be a spring that surrounds the drug container and may be directly coupled to the plunger and the wire such that movement of the spring and the wire is restricted over time.

TRANSFUSION PUMP WITH AN INSERTION DEVICE

A pump assembly for pumping a medication through a cannula, said pump assembly comprising a housing adapted to be attached to a skin of a patient and containing a reservoir assembly having a variable volume liquid chamber configured to contain the medication upon filling of the reservoir assembly, a variable volume gas chamber configured to contain air before filling of the reservoir assembly and a pressure chamber configured to contain a pressure generating element, the liquid chamber, gas chamber and pressure chamber are fluidly sealed with respect to each other; the liquid chamber is selectably fluidly couplable with the cannula and the gas chamber is fluidly couplable with the atmosphere.
