A pump device includes a pump driver comprising a first diaphragm and a second diaphragm, the first and second diaphragms each comprising a middle portion bounded by an outer portion, the first and second diaphragms being spatially separated from each other at the respective outer portions, and coupled together at the respective middle portions. The pump also includes a fluid passageway and a pump chamber fluidly connected to the fluid passageway, wherein the pump chamber comprises a moveable wall coupled to the pump driver at the middle portions of the first and second diaphragms such that a fluid movement between the pump chamber and the fluid passageway is induced by movement of the middle portions. An input device is configured to obtain a target flow rate. A controller is configured to operate the pump driver and a flow regulator based on signals received from a flow detector.

Method and system for providing a therapeutic agent to an implanted infusion device

A system for refilling a multi-chamber implantable infusion device is presented. The infusion device has a refill chamber which is accessible through an external septum of a refill port. The refill chamber is divided by an inner septum into an upper reservoir and a lower reservoir. The lower refill chamber is refilled with lower reservoir needles having a needle opening axially placed to align with the lower reservoir. The upper reservoir is refilled with an upper reservoir needle having an opening aligned with the upper reservoir. Magnetic portions are provided in the needles to localize and identify the needle. A processor within the infusion device is connected to magnetic field sensors which sense magnetic portions of the needle and recognize information encoded magnetically within the needle.

The medical fluid pump including a sensor for determining the volume of fluid pumped by the pump. Also, at least one continuous analyte monitor, and a controller. The controller is in communication with the medical fluid pump and the at least one continuous analyte monitor. The controller includes a processor. The processor includes instructions for delivery of medical fluid based at least on data received from the at least one continuous analyte monitor.

The system also includes a vial adapter assembly including a first needle configured to penetrate a septum of the fluid vial for fluidly coupling the pump mechanism to the fluid vial and a second needle having a first end configured to penetrate the septum of the fluid vial and a second end configured to penetrate a septum of the reservoir of the infusion pump assembly to allow transfer of fluid from the fluid vial to the reservoir of the infusion pump assembly in response to air being pumped into the fluid vial and a needle carriage adapted to carry the first needle and the second needle, wherein the needle carriage slidably attached to the interior of the vial adapter assembly, wherein the needle carriage adapted to slide from a vial end of the vial adapter to a receptacle end of the vial adapter.

A method of dispensing a therapeutic fluid from a line includes providing an inlet line connectable to an upstream fluid source. The inlet line is in downstream fluid communication with a pumping chamber. The pumping chamber has a pump outlet. The method also includes actuating a force application assembly so as to restrict retrograde flow of fluid through the inlet while pressurizing the pumping chamber to urge flow through the pump outlet. A corresponding system employs the method.

A portable electronic fluid dispensing system can provide pre-filled, pre-primed IV bag assemblies comprising therapeutic fluids. The same fluid line and connector in the IV bag assembly can be used to fill the IV bag as is used to withdraw fluid from the IV bag and infuse such fluid into the patient. The connection points along the IV assembly, such as the connection between the IV bag and a drip chamber, or between an IV bag and tubing, or between a drip chamber and tubing, or between tubing and a closeable, resealable connector, can each be resistant to disconnection by a user. The healthcare practitioner at the patient care site is not required to attach any of these components to each other, and the healthcare practitioner at the patient care site is not required to introduce a spike into a spike port on the IV bag.

An infusion pump is disclosed. The infusion pump comprises a chamber having a distal end and a proximal end, and a longitudinal axis between the proximal end and the distal end. A piston is arranged for reciprocating movement within the chamber and along the longitudinal axis. At least one outlet is arranged from the chamber and may comprise an outlet valve. At least one inlet is provided into the chamber. The outlet and the inlet are axially spaced apart along the longitudinal axis of the chamber. A method for operating the pump is also provided.

FLUID DELIVERY SYSTEM

A fluid delivery system is disclosed which comprises at least one supply station for supplying at least one fluid, a pressurizing unit for pressurizing said at least one fluid, an inlet fluid circuit in fluid communication with said at least one supply station and with a pump module of said pressurizing unit and an outlet fluid circuit in fluid communication with said pump module for discharging the fluid from the chamber. The chamber is provided with a piston reciprocating therein, thereby defining first and second variable-volume sub-chambers. The fluid delivery system further comprises a recirculation fluid circuit fluidically connecting said first and second variable-volume sub-chambers, and an actuator associated to said recirculation fluid circuit for managing the passage of said at least one fluid between said first and second variable-volume sub-chambers in both directions. A method of operating the fluid delivery system is also disclosed.
