INTRA-ARTICULAR NEEDLE PLACEMENT DEVICE AND METHOD OF USING
20230010482 · 2023-01-12 ·

The present invention relates to a device for measuring, recording, and acting in response to changes in air pressures encountered through the lumen of a connected needle. The device signals when it has been powered and signals when the device recognizes both pressures and pressure change rates indicative of synovial cavity joint penetration, such as knee joint penetration. Synovial cavity pressures detected and acted upon may either be supra- (positive) or sub-atmospheric (negative). Internal light emitting diodes and a laptop connected display are demonstrated as signaling and communication mechanisms. Methods for delivering medicaments into human and animal intra-articular cavities or joints such as synovial cavities are provided. Furthermore, methods for facilitating the diagnoses of joint effusion also are provided.

A method for medicine administration and tracking and system for the same that may implement the method via a health management application running on a computing device includes tracking movement of an injection pen from a start location to a dispensing location, detecting a dispensing event of medicine dispensed from the injection pen at the dispensing location, determining a location of the dispensing location relative to a user's body, associating information relating to the detected dispensing event with information relating to the determined location, and providing feedback based upon the detected dispensing event information and the determined location information.

INFUSION PUMP METHODS, SYSTEMS AND APPARATUS

A system for priming an infusion pump is disclosed. The system includes a priming cap including a septum and configured to matably connect with a male part comprising a needle and attached to a length of tubing for fluid, wherein when matably connected with the male part, the priming cap occludes the tubing.

Syringe for detecting pressure change

A device for positioning a needle tip to a desired location by signaling pressure change is provided. The device includes a barrel, a piston, a biasing element, and a plunger. The barrel defines a reservoir, and it includes a distal end connectable to a puncturing apparatus. The plunger is slidably engaged with the piston, and both are movable within the reservoir. The biasing element connects the plunger and the piston, and its change in length corresponds to the relative position of the plunger and piston. In operation, the piston is at a first position relative to the plunger when the biasing element is at a first length. The piston later moves to a second relative position in response to the biasing element's change of the length resulting from a pressure change inside the reservoir when the puncturing apparatus reaches a location of a mass. The position's change of the piston is visually detectable.

System and method for delivering therapeutic agents to the uterine cavity

Apparatus for delivering a therapeutic agent to a uterine cavity including an elongated member having a fluid channel for passage of the therapeutic agent into the uterine cavity, a dispensing member extending distally of the elongated member and having at least one perforation for passage of the therapeutic agent into the uterine cavity into contact with the endometrium. An infusion line is in communication with the fluid channel for passage of a fluid into the uterine cavity to assess leakage to determine integrity of the uterine cavity prior to passage of the therapeutic agent into the uterine cavity.

OCULAR INJECTOR AND METHODS FOR ACCESSING SUPRACHOROIDAL SPACE OF THE EYE

An ocular medical injector is provided for drug delivery. A method includes inserting a puncture member of the medical injector into the eye until the puncture member reaches the SCS. The puncture member defines a lumen therethrough. With the puncture member disposed within the SCS, a flexible cannula is advanced distally through the lumen of the puncture member, beyond the distal end portion of the puncture member and along the SCS towards a posterior region of the eye. The flexible cannula has an atraumatic distal tip and defines a lumen therethrough. With the distal tip of the flexible cannula disposed within the SCS beyond a distal end portion of the puncture member, a therapeutic substance is administered to the SCS.

DEVICES AND METHODS FOR DETERMINING THE POSITION OF AN INTRAVASCULAR PROBE

The present invention discloses a technique for determining a position of a distal end of a probe relative to a blood vessel. The method comprises receiving a first pressure pattern comprising a plurality of pressure values being indicative of a pressure of a fluid when the distal end of the probe is located inside the blood vessel, processing the first pressure pattern, and determining at least one adaptive threshold and/or a tendency indication. The adaptive threshold is indicative of a transition from a first position state to a second position state, or vice versa. The tendency indication is indicative of a certain trend of the pressure pattern. The first position state defines an in-blood vessel condition in which the distal end of the probe is located inside the blood vessel and the second position state defines at least one exit condition in which the distal end of the probe is located at least partially outside the blood vessel.
