INTRAVASCULAR MEMBRANE OXYGENATOR CATHETER WITH OSCILLATING HOLLOW FIBER MEMBRANES

The present disclosure describes intravascular oxygenation systems and methods with one or more of improved oxygen diffusion flux, improved resistance to bubble formation on the surface of non-porous hollow fibers, and reduced size. The systems and methods include a pneumatic inlet coupled to a pneumatic source that provides a gas containing oxygen at a high pressure. A plurality of hollow fiber membranes (HFM) are in pneumatic communication with the pneumatic inlet to receive the gas containing oxygen and with an outlet to exhaust a partially deoxygenated gas. An electronic controller drives the motor to oscillate the plurality of HFMs to cause a diffusive flux of the gas containing oxygen from the plurality of HFMs into a region of interest of a subject. The electronic controller may drive the motor according to an oscillation pattern, which may include a macro-oscillation with superimposed micro-oscillations.

MEMBRANE CATHETER

A catheter for intravascular use has a blood inlet and a blood outlet, and includes a membrane arranged in the catheter in such a way that at least one part of the blood flowing into the catheter via the blood inlet during operation comes into contact with the membrane. The membrane allows an exchange of at least one substance between a carrier medium and the blood. The carrier medium is a carrier fluid in which the substance to be exchanged can be dissolved, and the catheter includes a delivery device that is designed to at least partially compensate for a pressure difference between the blood inlet and the blood outlet during operation. A method for removing at least one substance from venous blood for diagnostic purposes uses a device of this type.

HIGHLY-PERMEABLE DENSE HOLLOW FIBER MEMBRANE FOR BLOOD OXYGENATION

The present invention provides a highly-permeable dense hollow fiber membrane (HFM) for blood oxygenation. A membrane material plays a key role in an oxygenator, which determines the oxygenation efficiency, service life and safety of the oxygenator. The HFM according to the present invention features high permeability. When blood rich in carbon dioxide flows through the oxygenator, the carbon dioxide and oxygen in the blood can be rapidly exchanged, so that the blood can be rapidly updated, and the size of the oxygenator and the blood perfusion volume can be reduced. In addition, the membrane surface of the present invention is hydrophobic and dense, and blood does not directly contact with gas or permeate into a gas pipeline, thus avoiding the problems of protein leakage, permeability reduction and the like. The oxygenator prepared by using the HFM of the present invention can be repeatedly used for a long time.
