Treatment of inflammatory disorders

Devices and methods for the stimulation of neural signaling of an apical splenic nerve, the device having a transducer for placement on or around the apical splenic nerve, and a signal generator to generate a signal that stimulates or inhibits the neural activity of the apical splenic nerve to produce a physiological response. The transducer has at least one electrode, and the signal generator is a voltage or current source. The stimulation electrical signal has a frequency of between 1 Hz and 50 Hz.

Intra-body device communication with redundant message transmission

Implantable medical devices (IMD), such as but not limited to leadless cardiac pacemakers (LCP), subcutaneous implantable cardioverter defibrillators (SICD), transvenous implantable cardioverter defibrillators, neuro-stimulators (NS), implantable monitors (IM), may be configured to communicate with each other. In some cases, a first IMD may transmit instructions to a second IMD. In order to improve the chances of a successfully received transmission, the first IMD may transmit the instructions several times during a particular time frame, such as during a single heartbeat. If the second IMD receives the message more than once, the second IMD recognizes that the messages were redundant and acts accordingly.

Stimulation response profiles

Techniques for providing therapy to a patient via electrical stimulation are described. The techniques include, for example, determining, relative to a start time of providing the electrical stimulation, one or more efficacy times that correspond to an efficacy indicator, determining, according to the efficacy times, efficacy data items for the patient, comparing the efficacy data items with the efficacy indicator, and generating, based on the comparison, a prediction of an expected response to the therapy manifesting in the patient at a prospective time.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS TO IMPROVE SLEEP DISORDERED BREATHING USING CLOSED-LOOP FEEDBACK

Neural stimulation is provided according to a closed loop algorithm to treat sleep disordered breathing (SOB), including obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). The closed loop algorithm is executed by a system comprising a processor (which can be within the neural stimulator). The closed loop algorithm includes monitoring physiological data (e.g., EMG data) recorded by a sensor implanted adjacent to an anterior lingual muscle; identifying a trigger within the physiological data, wherein the trigger is identified as a biomarker for a condition related to sleep (e.g., inspiration); and applying a rule-based classification (which can learn) to the trigger to determine whether one or more parameters of a stimulation should be altered based on the biomarker.

A device for hemorrhoid relief that includes a housing assembly and a capsule assembly is disclosed. The housing assembly includes a housing that houses a battery and a communication module. The battery may be recharged through a wireless charging means. Additionally, the communications module allows the device to pair to a mobile device through Bluetooth. The capsule assembly includes a plastic core having two sides. An anode pole and a cathode pole are then coupled to the two sides of the plastic core. The capsule assembly serves a neutral core. The capsule assembly is then inserted into a user's anus. The device then delivers biphasic electrotherapy pulses within the anus to reduce the inflammation of hemorrhoids.

Multiple sound source encoding in hearing prostheses

Presented herein are techniques for enhancing a hearing prosthesis recipient's perception of multiple frequencies present in received sound signals. The hearing prosthesis is configured to extract a plurality of frequencies from the received sound signals and to use the plurality of frequencies to modulate the amplitudes of different stimulation pulse sequences that are to be delivered to the recipient via different stimulation channels. The hearing prosthesis may also adapt a stimulation resolution of the stimulation pulse sequences when delivering the modulated stimulation pulses sequences to the recipient.
