The device includes components mounted to the frame, comprising an air intake filter mounted on the frame and communicating on one side with ambient air outside the device and on the other side with an inlet duct and an air outlet filter mounted on the frame and communicating on one side with air inside the device and on the other side with ambient air outside the device. The device also includes a battery-powered air mover mounted on the frame and operable to pull air through the air intake filter and through the inlet duct and push air out into the inside of the device and a rechargeable battery mounted on the frame to power the air mover. The device further includes a transparent face shield mounted on one side of the frame in such a way as to create an airtight seal between the face shield and the one side of the frame, a fabric component made from an air impermeable fabric and mounted on the other side of the frame in such a way as to create an airtight seal between the fabric component and the other side of the frame, and to encircle the user's neck, a head harness configured to rest on the user's head and support the frame with its components mounted thereon, and wherein the components are mounted on the upper portion the frame and on the lower portion of the frame so as to achieve a weight distribution ratio between the upper portion of the frame with components mounted thereon and the lower portion of the frame with components mounted thereon, the ratio being between 1 to 1.5 and 1.5 to 1.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR PERSONAL ISOLATION AND/OR PROTECTION
Method and apparatus for personal isolation and/or protection are disclosed. In one variation, the system may include a passive filtration component having a mask configured for positioning over a mouth and/or nose of a user, wherein the mask has at least one portion configured to filter air passing through the at least one portion. An active filtration component having a fan may be included, wherein the active filtration component is configured to filter air entering or exiting the active filtration component via the fan, and a hose fluidly coupled between the passive filtration component and the active filtration component such that the active filtration component is remote from a face of the user when in use.
MASK APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING THE SAME
Provided is a mask apparatus. The mask apparatus includes a mask body in which a fan module is provided, a face guard coupled to a rear surface of the rear body so as to be in close contact with user's face and having a breathing space therein, a pressure sensor installed in the mask body to measure a pressure of the breathing space, and a controller configured to compare a current pressure value measured by the pressure sensor to a preset atmospheric pressure estimation, update the atmospheric pressure estimation based on a difference between the current pressure value and the atmospheric pressure estimation, and control a rotation speed of the fan module based on a difference between the updated atmospheric pressure estimation and the current pressure value.
Method of Operating a Powered Air-Purifying Respirator Assembly
A method alerts a user that a volume of air being circulated through a powered air purifying respirator assembly is outside an acceptable range. The powered air purifying respirator assembly includes a fan and a hood system. The method begins with the step of measuring airflow through the powered air purifying respirator assembly to create a measured airflow value. The measured airflow value is compared to a predetermined high airflow value and a predetermined low airflow value. And, after a predetermined amount of time, an alarm signal is generated when the measured airflow value is either greater than or less than the predetermined high airflow value or the predetermined low airflow value, respectively. During the time when the incorrect airflow is occurring, the motor of the fan may be adjusted to correct the airflow values before the alarm signal is generated.
Method of generating a configuration for a customized headgear
A method of generating a customized headgear that includes a plurality of physical features and being usable with a mask component that supplies a flow of breathing gas to the patient's airways. The method includes receiving one or more parameters pertaining to the patient's head, subjecting at least some of the parameters to one or more algorithms to determine at least one of a length of a physical feature of the plurality of physical features and an angle between a pair of physical features of the plurality of physical features, generating an outline of at least a portion of a body which, when formed, is usable to assemble therefrom at least a portion of the headgear, and outputting a pattern usable to enable the formation of the at least portion of the body from at least a first sheet of at least a first material.
Personal protection and ventilation system
A personal protection and ventilation system is provided. The system includes a gown having front and rear panels, a hood, and visor; a fan; an air tube; and a helmet. The fan is positioned between the wearer and a body-facing surface of the rear panel. The front panel and at least a portion of the hood are formed from a first material including a first spunbond layer, a spunbond-meltblown-spunbond laminate, and a liquid impervious elastic film disposed therebetween. The first material has an air volumetric flow rate of less than about 1 standard cubic feet per minute (scfm). The rear panel is formed from a second material including a nonwoven laminate having an air volumetric flow rate of about 20 scfm to about 80 scfm. Therefore, the fan is able to intake a sufficient amount of air from the environment through the rear panel to provide cooling/ventilation to the hood.
Personal protective headgear
A personal protective headgear is an apparatus fully enclosing a user's head, protecting not only from potential contamination of breathing air but also from potential physical damage. A facial shield is hermetically sealed around the front-facing portion of the apparatus, preventing entrance of unfiltered air. Fans direct air through a set of filters, thus cleansing air entering the apparatus. The apparatus may further be equipped with a variety of interactivity modules, including cameras, speakers, lights, displays, and more. A set of sensors may be utilized to monitor the user and the user's surroundings in different conditions. The apparatus may also include wireless capabilities that allow the wearer to transfer information to and from a remote user, thereby allowing the user to follow instructions or otherwise interact with a guide or other such remote companion. Swappable battery packs allow the user to avoid losing power, even while replenishing power supplies.
Disposable PAPR with Viral Resistant Coatings
The PAPR kit is an air-purifying respirator that uses a blower to force the ambient air through air-filtration media to the hood assembly to create positive air pressure. The PAPR kit is module in design and can be employed in multiple use configurations and applications. The PAPR kit comprises a PAPR unit, the PAPR unit may be removably mounted or coupled to a back region of a hood assembly and/or a waist belt. The PAPR kit may further comprise an integrated or removable battery pack that is easily retained and/or removed from the PAPR unit.
