A protective face mask is provided. The protective face mask may have a removable mouth panel (or “apron”) which acts as a protective personal barrier for the user. The removable mouth panel is suitable for allowing quick access to the user's mouth to, for example, eat and/or drink without needing to remove the entire body of the mask. Further, the user's nostrils remain secured and protected beneath the remainder of the mask. The mouth panel may also be completely disconnected from the main body of the face mask to allow a user to eat and/or drink. Alternatively, the mouth panel may be partially disconnected from the mask by being rotated to the left, to the right, or upward to allow a user to eat and/or drink.

A mouth closure mask includes a flexible sheet having an adhesive on a back facing surface thereof, the adhesive provided for adhering the mask to the face of a wearer. A port is defined through a portion of the sheet. The port allows access between in the inside and outside of a wearer's mouth when the port is uncovered. A retaining flange is disposed on the flexible sheet adjected to the port. A seal is configured to selectively engage the retaining flange to restrict access to the port when the seal and retaining flange are engaged.

A face mask is provided. A face mask assembly includes a face mask is comprised of a particulate filtering material to filter air being breathed by a user. The face mask has a mouth opening extending through the face mask to expose the user's mouth when the face mask is worn to facilitate eating and drinking. A flap is movably coupled to the face mask and the flap is positionable in a closed position having the flap covering the mouth opening to filter air breathed by the user. The flap is positionable in an open position to facilitate the user to eat or drink. A first mating member is coupled to flap and a second mating member is coupled to the face mask. The first mating member is releasably mated to the first mating member when the flap is in the closed position for retaining the flap in the closed position.

A pacifying personal protective device for a child includes a panel, which is attachable to a head of a child so that the panel is positioned over at least a mouth and a nose of the child. The panel reduces transmission of pathogens between the child and persons proximate to the child. A pacifying element is engaged to the panel and is positioned proximate to the mouth of the child. The pacifying element facilitates pacification of the child, thus increasing a likelihood that the panel will remain in position on the head of the child.

A face mask is configured in a two-piece form, with an upper portion that covers the nose (and remains in place at all times) and a lower portion that covers the mouth, where the lower portion may be moved (released) to expose the mouth area, without needing to completely remove the mask, as typical in the prior art.
