GOLF CLUB

A shim or badge is affixed to a golf club body to produce a cap-back iron, giving the appearance of a hollow-body iron. In this way, the golf club can be manufactured with the performance benefits of a game improvement iron, while providing the appearance of a blade, player's iron, and/or a hollow-body iron. For example, by using a lightweight and rigid shim or badge to close a cavity opening and extend into the toe portion in the golf club body, the golf club head can provide increased stiffness in the topline, while lowering CG. Various shim or badge arrangements and materials can be used, and a filler material and/or damper can be included within the cavity to improve sound and feel, while minimizing loss in COR.

A co-forged iron type golf club is disclosed. More specifically, the present invention discloses an iron type golf club head from a pre-form billet that already contains two or more materials before the actual forging process resulting in a multi-material golf club head that doesn't require any post manufacturing operations such as machining, welding, swaging, gluing, and the like. The resultant golf club head may be capable of achieving center of gravity locations previously unachievable without utilizing this co-forging technique. The resultant golf club head may be used to create a set of golf club heads with center of gravity locations that are more advantageous throughout a set of golf clubs.

Devices, systems and methods for using and monitoring sports equipment and sports activities

Sports equipment and/or areas of play are provided, comprising a sports equipment or area of play and a sensor.

IRON TYPE GOLF CLUB HEAD

An iron-type golf club has a body that defines a rear void. The face portion includes an ideal striking location that defines the origin of a coordinate system. The body includes a central region in which −25 mm<x<25 mm. The sole portion that is contained within the central region includes a forward sole region located adjacent to the face portion and a sole bar located rearward of the forward sole region, with the forward sole region defining a wall having a minimum forward sole thickness T.sub.FS and the sole bar defining a body having a maximum sole bar thickness T.sub.SB, such that 0.05<T.sub.FS/T.sub.SB<0.4. The sole portion includes a slot extending in a substantially heel-to-toe direction of the sole portion, the slot defining a portion of a path that extends through the sole portion and into the rear void. The slot is at least partially filled with a filler material.

Weighted iron set

The present invention is direct to a set of golf clubs comprising long irons, mid-irons and short irons. The invention contemplates the use of titanium or steel for the main body portion and a tungsten weight member coupled to the toe and a tungsten heel weight member coupled in a hosel cavity.

GOLF CLUB HAVING AN ADJUSTABLE WEIGHT ASSEMBLY

A set of golf club heads includes a first golf club head having a first loft and a second golf club head having a second loft greater than the first loft. The first golf club head includes a first striking face defining a first striking face plane and a first weight assembly including: a first weight, a first cover, and a first fastener. The second golf club head includes a second striking face defining a second striking face plane and a second weight assembly including: a second weight, a second cover, and a second fastener. The first and second fasteners are respectively controllably movable along first and second fastener axes, and a smallest angle between the second fastener axis and the second striking face plane is smaller than a smallest angle between the first fastener axis and the first striking face plane.
