Golf club heads and methods to manufacture golf club heads

Embodiments of golf club heads, golf clubs, and methods to manufacture golf club heads and golf clubs are generally described herein. In one example, a golf club head includes a hollow body portion including a material having a first density and an interior cavity. A face pocket portion may be in the first interior cavity at or proximate to the front portion of the body portion, define a second interior cavity, and at least partially enclose the first interior cavity. A face portion is coupled to the front portion to enclose the second interior cavity. A first filler material may be injected into the first interior cavity from an external port. A second filler material may fill the second interior cavity. The first filler material and the second filler material may have at least one different physical property. Other examples and embodiments may be described and claimed.

Golf Club Face Insert

A resilient face insert for a golf club head, preferably a putter head, is disclosed herein. In particular, the face insert comprises a plurality of hinge features spaced from a striking surface to ensure consistent ball speed across the striking surface. At least a portion of each hinge feature extends parallel to the striking surface without making contact with the striking surface. In the preferred embodiment, each hinge feature comprises a tab portion that is spaced from the striking surface by a stem portion and that extends parallel to the striking surface. The hinge features may be co-molded with a polymeric backing material in order to further improve performance of the face insert.

GOLF CLUB HEAD WITH MULTI-MATERIAL CONSTRUCTION

Embodiments of golf club heads with components composed of a metal-composite-metal construction are described herein. The metal-composite-metal construction makes up a portion of the golf club head. The metal-composite-metal construction can make up any one or combination of the following structures: faceplate, face insert, internal ribs, turbulators, crown insert, or weight channel. The composite layer of the metal-composite-metal construction is composed of reinforced fibers. The metal-composite-metal construction allows for weight savings in the golf club head while maintaining durability, strength, rigidity, and performance.

GROOVES OF GOLF CLUB HEADS AND METHODS TO MANUFACTURE GROOVES OF GOLF CLUB HEADS

Putter type club head with vertical groove patterns are described herein. A putter type club head comprises a putter face having a plurality of first curved grooves and a plurality of second curved grooves. The first curved grooves and the second curved grooves intersect each other at a plurality of points across the putter face. The width and depth of the first curved grooves and the second curved grooves can vary across the putter face in a direction extending from a heel end to a toe end, and/or in a direction extending from a top rail to a sole. The curved groove pattern provides consistent ball speed performance for any impact location on the putter face.

GOLF CLUB HEADS AND METHODS TO MANUFACTURE GOLF CLUB HEADS

Embodiments of golf club heads and methods to manufacture golf club heads are generally described herein. In one example, a golf club head includes a body portion having a face portion with a front surface and a rear surface. A first protrusion is located at the rear surface and has a first receptacle. A second protrusion is located at the rear surface and has a second receptacle. A bridge structure extends between the first protrusion and the second protrusion. The bridge structure has a first end portion received in the first receptacle and a second end portion received in the second receptacle. The first protrusion and the second protrusion maintain the bridge structure in a compressed position. The bridge structure exerts a force against the face portion. Other examples and embodiments may be described and claimed.

GOLF CLUB HEAD HAVING A MULTI-MATERIAL FACE AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURE

A golf club with a multi-material face is disclosed herein. More specifically, the golf club head in accordance with the present invention has a multi-material striking face portion that is made out of a backing layer having a frontal pocket, made out of titanium, and an insert, made out of a composite material, adapted to be inserted into the frontal pocket. The frontal pocket and the insert could have complementary dovetail shaped undercut features to create a mechanical bond between these two components. The insert may be bonded to the frontal pocket using an adhesive impregnated within a glass fiber weave.

Golf club head

A golf club head has a hollow therein and comprises a face portion, a crown portion and a sole portion. The face portion comprises a central zone including a face center, and a peripheral zone surrounding the central zone. Each of the central zone and the peripheral zone has a flexural stiffness defined by E×t.sup.3/12, wherein E is the Young's modulus (GPa) and t is the thickness (mm) of the zone concerned. The ratio sc/sp of the flexural stiffness Sc of the central zone to the flexural stiffness sp of the peripheral zone is 5.0 to 55.0.

GOLF CLUB HEADS WITH A MULTI-MATERIAL STRIKING SURFACE

Embodiments of putter-type golf club head comprising a striking surface capable of achieving consistent ball speeds across the striking surface to account for various ball impact locations are described herein. The striking surface has at least two materials that differ in concentration away from the geometric center of the striking surface to provide this consistency. Consistent (or uniform) ball speed is achieved throughout the striking surface as the portion of the golf ball that contacts the striking surface interacts with at least two materials having a differing material characteristic.
